“Comfort Food that Feeds the Soul”
The Cadillac Café has been an innovative institution for Breakfast and Lunch on Portland’s NE Broadway dining scene for over twenty years. Owner’s Rod Brackenbury and Terry Hughes fulfilled a dream of theirs by starting The Cadillac Café in 1989. Brackenbury oversaw the kitchen end of the operation and Hughes was the front-end man. Quality, consistency, and exceptional service may seem like vintage ideals to some, but Brackenbury and Hughes made those ideals their driving principles. Their philosophy is to provide the guest with the warm comforting feeling of being entertained in a close friend’s home. And as strong as their business philosophy is on their guests, it is the same for their staff. They believe that without the hard work and dedication of their staff they would not have achieved the success that they have.In 2002, Brackenbury and Hughes relocated their dining hotspot into a new building just nine blocks to the east of their original location. The muted pink walls of the new space give the diner an instant feeling of warmth and comfort. Taking design cues from the Art Deco period, the dining room is divided into small intimate spaces and includes the display of a drivable 1961 pink Cadillac convertible and a glass walled Garden Room Dining area with a towering deco themed fireplace. The emphasis is on fresh, flavorful, and simply prepared northwest sourced cuisine.Since its relocation, The Cadillac Café has revved up both its Breakfast and Lunch menu offerings, pulling from simple comfort foods with a “twist” to many regional and ethnic offerings. The emphasis is on fresh, flavorful, and simply prepared northwest sourced cuisine. Executive Chef Jeremiah Morris joined the Cadillac Cafe six years ago during its relocation and with the aid of Sous Chef John Manning has made many delightful additions to the offerings on the menu. Also since the Cadillac’s relocation, Rod Brackenbury has taken on a new roll, working alongside partner Terry Hughes in the front-end of their operation. After twenty-some years, Brackenbury and Hughes are still very hands-on in the full operation of the restaurant. The Cadillac Café is also equipped with a full bar with staff whipping up signature Bloody Mary’s, Mimosas, Martinis, Cocktails, and Coffee and Espresso concoctions. The Cadillac Café owners and staff are dedicated to providing you with a breakfast and lunch experience to enjoy and remember.
