Coava Coffee began in a garage in North Portland, but their award-winning single-origin coffees couldn’t be confined; today, they roast all their beans in their Central Eastside Industrial District roastery and adjacent brew bar location. Coava staff won both the 2011 Northwest Barista Competition and the 2011 Northwest Brewers Cup. They focus on raw beans and strive to create roast profiles based on the inherent qualities of each unroasted coffee, focusing on intensity and balance in the cup. Our brew bar is the tasting room to our roastery. It is a place to experience our craft and hospitality in its purest form. Designed around simplicity, we always offer two selections of hand poured coffee and two selections for espresso based drinks. Our pastries are made locally by Nuvrei Patisserie. You can also be sure to find a large selection of our current coffee offerings for sale and a barista who will gladly help find the one for you. When the weather is nice we have outdoor seating and we always provide free wifi.
This place is great. The cappuccino and ham & cheese pastry were delicious, and you get to see a good slice of what the trendy Portland population is doing with fashion these days. Parking, however, was horrendous. Maybe this is just because it was a weekday morning both times I've been in the area. Regardless, I suggest walking or finding alternative transportation if you can.
