Amazing how you can just go 2 miles outside of town and feel like you have traveled for hours. This is a popular campground and it fills up on the weekends with reservations. We were able sneak in mid-week and enjoyed our time here.

We will stay here again in the future, but will try and avoid the weekends when the I think the crowds of weekend campers are prevalent.

Access to trails around the lake for hiking and several great mountain biking trails are around the area.

Site are large and fairly well separated. Many sites have several steps leading up or down into them. We had a great level site with easy access to our fire pit and picnic table.

No hookups, but water and restrooms available (no showers).

Adjacent to the campground is an excellent cafe - Lynx Lake Cafe with delicious German food and beers. We enjoyed a great prime rib dinner that was easily big enough for 2 with leftovers.

We hosted a dinner at our campsite with friends from around the area and got nothing but grief for the 2 extra cars at our space. The campsite staff is VERY attentive!

Easy access to Trader Joe's, Target, Walmart and others just down the road.

We had great T-Mobile access here and used the booster to increase our Verizon signal.

We pulled into Lynx Lake Campground on a weekday when the place was almost empty. There are 8 loops with just a few sites in each making it a pretty quiet park overall. All roads are paved and the campground hosts keep the sites very well maintained. In each loop there are pit toilets and water, not to be used to fill the tank directly. No hookups in any site. The majority of the sites are pretty good for a solar setup.

The lake is easily accessible from pretty much any loop with many trails down to it. It is about 2.5 miles all the way around the lake. There are little coves off the path that are perfect for some doggie swim time which is a big reason why we chose this campground. Boat and canoe rentals are available from a concessionaire at the north end of the lake.

On weekends, this place is fully booked so if you want to stay over the weekend be sure to make reservations well ahead of time.

This campground is just a couple miles down the road from everything you might need including Costco and Trader Joe's. It's about 15 minutes into downtown Prescott.

We tested Verizon speed throughout the campground before finding that loop G was furthest up on the hill and had the best signal, although not perfect. During the day it slowed down to about 2.5 up boosted, nothing much if unboosted. At night, it was great allowing two of us to stream with no issues. We did check other loops before picking a spot and some spots cell service was non-existent so check before choosing!

As an aside, because we didn't have weekend reservations, we had planned to move up the road one mile to Hilltop campground which is first come (we ended up changing plans so no full review). We drove up there one afternoon to check the signal and loop C had awesome unboosted Verizon signal. So this would be a great option too for the non-reservation, working crowd.

Our rate reflects the 50% golden age passport discount. We stayed in the upper campground, Hilltop, which is first come first serve. However, as the campground was closing the day after we left, there was hardly anyone there. We saw 1 or 2 other campers. All the roads here are paved and each campsite is nestled among the pies and has a large gravel area with a fire pit and picnic table. I imagine in the summer this would be a great get-away from the heat just down the road in Prescott. They were all very clean, as were the pit toilets. There is lots of hiking and mountain biking right from the campground, however I was never able to find a good map, which would have been helpful. Our ATT service was excellent enough to stream a movie.

Price reflects a group site rate--we opted for a slightly more private setting and paid double. Most sites are in a ring with your rig positioned above the picnic and fire area. This is due to the lovely hillside location. Site #19 was pull-through.

Heavily shaded campground makes portable solar a requirement and, I am sure, a nice break from the hot Arizona sunshine in the summer.

Great access for hiking; multiple trails leave right from the campground.

Occasional Verizon service; not reliable.

Upon arrival I talked to the host to decide which sites were available & which could fit our 33ft 5th wheel. Many of the spots are for smaller rigs. We chose a spot based on her recommendation, set up only to find out it was a double spot so we had to pay double. But it was a very quiet, large spot with tree coverage and it worked out wonderfully for us. Site #19. Pull through. Covered pavilion with 2 concrete picnic tables & a metal ring firepit. Only 1 neighbor. Vault toilets, potable water fill, dumpster, trailhead to the lake all right across the street. We decided to back out instead of driving the tight loop around to exit. Close to lots of shopping but feels like you're miles away. The Campground is set up for dry camping only.

We had zero Tmobile service in the campground but were fine while exploring historic Prescott.

camped at Lynx Lake Family Campground (USFS) in a Fifth Wheel.

Lovely Campground but we didn't get to stay. You definitely need reservations for this Campground. Instead we went one mile up the road and stayed at Hilltop

This is a nice Forest Service campground that is just minutes away from Prescott, but feels more remote. Lynx Lake is a very busy campground and reservations are required as it is always booked during the summer. We were in loop G, site 28, which is a very level parallel spot with a nice steel firepit and table.

There is some road noise in many of the sites during the day, but that dies down during the evening and through the night. We walked the campground with our dog a couple times and saw many nice sites that were a mixture of back in, pull through and parallel access. We generally prefer back in sites and made note of the sites we would try to book in the future.

There are a few trails directly accessible from the campground and the lake is just a few minutes walk away. We were able to ride our mountain bikes from camp up trail 305 which passes through the Hilltop campground and out to Walker Rd before returning on the same trail.

Wildlife bonus- we also saw a couple tarantulas crossing the campground road during one of our walks and had a skunk pass through our site one evening.

This campground offers a quiet place to camp that is close to many activities. Easy hiking trails lead from the campground and connect with the trail that circumnavigate Lynx Lake. Trail heads leading to more challenging trails are just a few minutes drive away. The small city of Prescott is just 3 miles away.

There are no sites with electricity.

Loops B and E have flush toilets. The rest of the loops have vault toilets.

Water is available but only to fill containers.

All sites seemed level. Site 7 seemed too small for even a small tent. All the others were adequate for their stated use.

We were there in October and saw several tarantulas. Coyotes are also prevalent.

We had already booked a private campground for two nights but decided to head to Prescott a night earlier. The CG sign said that it was full but we stopped to as the hosts if there were other campgrounds nearby. They said site 35 had just opened up so we scored a nice site. The female host was so nice and helpful. We were able to get the access pass rate of $9/night which was a steal. The sites were spacious and level; the pit toilets were newer and super clean. We wished we hadn’t booked the private campground. We would have loved to have been able to stay longer.

Great place to get into the tall pines, enjoy the lake and trails. There are a variety of sights, but make sure you read the description of each, some fit small class B, some are better for bigger rigs and trailers. Not all are level. This campground is three miles from civilization but you won't hear it. Easy to run to a grocery or Costco for extra stuff. If you rig has a problem, there are three RV dealers near by. The historic town of Prescott is a nice place to visit if you want to get away from the campsite.
