“only female gravesite with Masonic symbol”
Adeline Simms was the wife of the first lighthouse keeper at Old Range Lighthouse. She died and was buried with a Masonic emblem on her tombstone. Legend has it that the local Masons were having a meeting in the rear range light. After she overheard part of their meeting, they made her a Mason to seal her lips. Hence this is the only Masonic seal on a female grave. This site is part of Sweetwater Trail.
