Timpanogos Cave National Monument

This was awesome! We had so much fun! The caves were beautiful and interesting and the hike had truly stunning scenery. The only thing to think about it that when the website says that this trek is strenuous, they really mean it. Bring plenty of water and snacks as your round trip, including the tour, is about 5 hours. If you're a slow walker, have a hard time with hills or have little kids with you, plan on taking some extra time. Our 4 year olds did fine, but needed a little extra time to make it. Buy your tickets ahead of time, especially if you have a large group or you will not get a desirable time.

Make sure to check the schedule for when the cave is open because you can't go inside most of the year. I think you may also need to schedule in advance a tour of the cave. Unfortunately we went when it was closed and could only hike the trails. Incredible views of the mountains. I'm looking forward to coming back and seeing the cave system.

Reservations required. When we arrived in Lehi, on Friday, our friends informed us that we needed a reservation to get on the cave tour. I noticed that we could get a tour for Sunday, but we were only going to have Saturday available. This was however a beautiful drive along Highway 92 through the mountains.

I really wish I had done my research before coming here, we drove up and down the road for what felt like forever looking for this. Turns out you have to go through the information center building and it's by tour only. Of course it was closed when we went. Which is too bad because it looks like it would have been amazing to see. Still the area was really pretty and we did take a short hike on one of the nearby trails so it wasn't a complete waste.
