The Nevada Museum of Art, located at 160 West Liberty Street in Reno, Nevada, is the only American Association of Museums (AAM) accredited art museum in the state of Nevada. The museum is thematic, focusing on the growing interest in the protection of the land. The Museum moved into a larger, four-story structure in 2003, designed by architect Will Bruder. The Altered Landscape: Photographs of a Changing Environment is the museum’s signature photography collection which examines human interaction with the environment. The 2011 feature exhibition of The Altered Landscape was accompanied by a deluxe volume book, showcasing the museum’s immense and diverse collection of landscape photography. There are 150 images by 100 photographers in The Altered Landscape book, (published by Rizzoli New York, 288 pp.), culled from more than 900 photographs the museum has amassed in its collection since the 1970s.
