“Traditional Southern Cooking in Richmond, VA”
The Roosevelt is a neighborhood restaurant in Church Hill, Richmond, Virginia's oldest neighborhood. Our food is an untraditional celebration of the food of the South, served alongside an all-Virginia wine list, a hearty roster of regional beers, and a selection of cocktails that'll knock your socks off. The Roosevelt opened in Richmond, Virginia, in July 2011, to public and critical acclaim. The Roosevelt was named 2012 Restaurant of the Year by Style Magazine, Best New Restaurant in the Region by Richmond Magazine and awarded an Elby as the city's Best New Restaurant. James Beard nominee Lee Gregory, chef and co-owner, worked under chef Dale Reitzer at Acacia in Richmond, Virginia, for five years before moving to Six Burner (Richmond), Mockingbird in Staunton, and Blue Light Grill in Charlottesville. He returned to RVA in 2011 to open The Roosevelt. In addition to The Roosevelt, Kendra Feather owns 2 other restaurants and a bakery in Richmond, Virginia. Feather opened Ipanema Cafe in 1998. Garnett's Cafe followed in 2009, and WPA Bakery in November 2012. The magnificently bearded Thomas "T" Leggett is the man behind The Roosevelt's cocktails, including the signature Seersucker. Stop by and say hi.
