Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on November 08, 2023We took both options to drive in and use the shuttle. I would advise to use the shuttle if you just want to have a day out as parking is expensive in the city. We really enjoyed our stay at this koa and would defiantly advise people to do the same.
Family of 5 stayed in shady spot 54 across from pool and showers. Very nice staff and looked out for you 24/7. The front desk lady will walk your dog for you. The overnight man in the golf cart keeps an eye on everything. Bathrooms are accessible with a code. Very clean. Very inexpensive laundromat that work well- dryer works very well. Took Shuttle into New Orleans. The driver was funny- great historian with satirical humor. The Hop On Hop Off bus in NO was the best way to see the city. Stayed 3 nights- and paid $5 per hour after checkout until 5pm so we didn't have to pay another full night but got to enjoy another half day in NO. Used Uber several times back to KoA. Great place!!
The site is around 14 miles away from the city, which took about 45 minutes to drive. The team will navigate you on the best route. There is a free shuttle at 9am ( pickup 5.45pm) and also at 5.00pm( no pick up).
Great campground, awesome tenting sites -all under a shady tree, elevated from the parking space in front of it and flat sand plots which made them perfect for camping. The store was well-stocked, staff was very friendly, offered a shuttle to the French Quarter for free and the showers and bathrooms were very nice. Felt safe and comfortable staying there. Would stay again.
Only a few minutes off the interstate. Fantastic staff, they are extremely friendly. Well stocked shop with free coffee :)
We were booked for two mights but only stayed one. We heard 7 gunshots about a mile away which it turned out to be a gang shooting.
Gun crime, muggings and attacks on tourists in the tourist areas have increased and an attack on Bourbon Street within 50 yards of a group of police men put us off visiting the area on our second day/evening :(
The koa team was extremely helpful and went out there way to meet your needs.
We stayed here for 11 nights while we visited New Orleans in late 2014. It's about 20 minutes from the French Quarter and KOA provides a free shuttle at 9am and 5pm to the city and at 5:45pm back to the campground. We never took the shuttle, instead driving to town and finding cheap daily parking garages. The staff was extremely friendly. The sites are a little narrow, but plenty long. We had no trouble fitting our 37' RV and toad with plenty of space. The sites have concrete patios and picnic tables. There is a 'back yard' of grass behind the sites which provides a little extra space, and a fenced dog park. We didn't have much luck with their WiFi, it was either slow or difficult to get on, but we had great signal with Verizon and AT&T for our hotspot. There are trains that pass through the area regularly, including at night. The train conductors are liberal with their horns, so it might be tough for a light sleeper. We did like this campground and would stay here again if we were in the area. It's a good compromise of price and location, much cheaper than staying in the French Quarter, but still easy and fast to get into town for sight seeing. The best part for us was that right across the street was the Mississippi Trail, a paved walking/biking trail with large grassy shoulders where we walked our dogs every day.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very friendly and helpful. We took the free shuttle to the French quarter for the day and were able to arrange for a dog walker who lives on the premises and loves animals to come in twice during the day to walk our dog. There is a small gift shop with food staples on site. The entire site was very clean and well looked after. Yes, some of the passing trains do get noisy but all else makes up for it.

We were in New Orleans for 3 weeks for hubby's work. We spent the last week here. This was our first KOA campground. It was very nice and clean with ample laundry and showers. Everyone was very nice. Eric did get in trouble for driving too fast!

This is a fine campground. Quite overpriced for what it is and the location, but in a pinch it works. The sites are very close together, but they’re well maintained.
