“A relic of a different area”
Imagine a bumpy bowling alley tilted on end. You are the human bowling pin! No fear! A pile of sawdust awaits you at the bottom. Grab one of the scraps of fabric at the base (burlap sack is the fastest), climb the ramp and slide away!
Even if it's out of your way, don't pass by this place without taking a few trips down the slide, even if the kids aren't with you.
Neat little play area that captures the nostalgia of earlier times. Only takes a few minutes and the trip to/from the park takes you through some wonderful farm land.
If you plot the destination using Roadtrippers app thru Waze, the destination is a little off. Keep driving further down the road. You can also just type in The Big Slide-Municipal Park into Waze for a more exact location.
We had the entire place to ourselves. The slide is large enough for a family of 4 to go down together (hilarity is inevitable 😂). I like that you can make this a quick or a long stop - whatever you have time for. No 4 hour commitment required (like many of the other sights/activities).
Fun, free, and unregulated!!
Such fun, even for adults! Burlaps provided at the bottom of this (FREE) HUGE slide. There is a children's playground, multiple picnic pavilions with shade, a stage and grills. A wonderful stop for any traveler.
WHAT UTTER FUN! My mother, sister, cousin, and I made a stop here one afternoon on a tour around the area. We were the only adults there at the time who did not also have kids with them, but we did not let that stop us from getting on the slide!
We went down a few times without the burlap, and a few times with... whoa nelly was that burlap fast! I did notice that after my family and I went down a few times, that the parents started joining their kids more.
It's ok to be silly and let out your inner child. This is a primo place to do it!
