“birthplace of "urban cuisine"”
When Gypsy Cab Company opened its doors in 1983, a new cuisine was introduced to the world--urban cuisine. "It's little of a lot of things ," says Ned Pollack, chef-owner of Gypsy Cab Company, where cab fare (the menu) draws on multiple influences including Italian, German, Cajun, Mediterranean, classical European, Souther, Oriental, and "Floribbean." Gypsy Cab Company, always a favorite with locals, has a reputation as being a casual restaurant with diner friendliness.
If you visit St. Augustine, drive a few minutes south of the bridge for great food at solid prices. It's an excellent alternative to the so-so tourist places you'll find in downtown St. Augustine.
Everything we had - the burgers, Greek salad, tuna wrap and burrito - was excellent. The portions we so large we took some home for dinner.
