Our Take

Take a moment to marvel at the fact that this is an old (by American standards) and enormous marble temple in the middle of Utah’s high desert. It’s undeniably audacious when you take into consideration that it was built by pioneers who made a trek through the mountains to build it. It’s such a perfect piece of Utah history and culture and it says a lot about the people who populated the state. When you visit, you’ll find it in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City. It’s bustling and surrounded by a mall of sorts. It’s absolutely worth visiting, especially to see the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. They might have you fill something out so they can send you materials, but it’s worth it. Also, it’s a popular spot for weddings, so you’ll likely see a few going on. Remember to be respectful!

Though I am an atheist, I visit often just to admire the beautiful landscaping and architecture. I highly recommend visiting at least once in your life, regardless of your religious affiliation (or lack thereof).

Was excited to see the Temple Square. It is beautiful but I felt very uncomfortable once there. It is so very far off from what I believe that I had to leave. It's not for me.

There are two visitors centers here and it's totally surrounded by religious stuff. Many people who visit say it's a spiritual experience. I think the architecture is pretty damn rad. There are volunteers around to answer any questions and they're all super nice. There's a 14sq. foot replica of Jerusalem at the North Visitors Center as well as an 11ft statue of Jesus. There are more exhibits at the South Visitors Center as well, including a detailed history of the Church of Latter Day Saints.

Beautiful place to visit. Right now a lot is closed due to construction. They have a beautiful message. Well maintained part of the city .

It's pretty and all, (especially in the spring time) but STAY AWAY from the nice sister missionaries. They only teach lies based off a child molester named Joseph Smith. Kinda creepy, very cultish. But still a cute place to see, that is for sure.

I've never been to any of the religious attractions, but just walking around the square is great. Lots of awesome buildings and a great place to just hang out and enjoy the day.

Temple under heavy construction but you can still visit the temple gardens and Tabernacle Choir Chapel. They have posted markers to read about the history of the Temple.

If you go anytime in the near future it is completely under construction, and covered in scaffolding. We couldn't see any of it.

Worth stopping by here, though the constructions were going on. I wanted to enter the opened buildings. A few missionary ladies offered me to watch my dogs, but I declined. One of two dogs I had was a new dog to me and wanted to make sure I've been watching her all the time (just scared of losing her by any kind of incident). The missionaries were very nice! We had a great amount of chatting.
