Calaveras County Museum Complex

Take a moment to acknowledge those whose steps were first to imprint Calaveras soil. We live in an area full of a rich and robust heritage represented in our County Museum. Many decendants of the early residents of Calaveras County are still living, and it is possible to collect from them a vast fund of early history in the county.  The Hall of Records was built directly in front of the Courthouse to provide space for the County Treasurer, Assessor and Recorder. Today, the lower floor houses the Historical Society office, Museum Book and Gift Shop, and the entrance to the Museum. Sixteen foot high solid iron doors with massive sliding bolts mark the entrance to the Hall of Records.
