“connect with the plant world”
San Antonio Botanical Garden is committed to inspire people to connect with the plant world and understand the importance of plants in our lives. The garden features the Lucile Halsell Conservatory which houses plants from desert regions to equatorial rainforests. Specialty collections include epiphytic plants display, desert cacti and succulents, equatorial tropicals, palms and cycads, tropical fruits, ferns and aroids, insectivores, and aquatic plants. The Texas Native Trail is a unique aspect of the San Antonio Botanical Garden. This area consists of plant communities characteristic of the Hill Country (Edwards Plateau), East Texas Pineywoods, and South Texas. These three distinctive and diverse ecological regions of Texas vary in soil, plant life, topography, and weather.
A must see if visiting San Antonio. Lots of varieties of natural spaces.
Any garden is more than welcome in large metropolitan cities of the size of San Antonio.
As i wrote in other reviews, San Antonio is probably the top tourist-friendly city in Texas. Great natural getaways within the city. One of these places you should certainly visit while in San Antonio is the Botanical Garden.
Great for people of all ages and a great place for kids to get in touch with nature. Great variety of plants and flowers from all over the world, with the Texas plants being specially highlighted. The glass houses are really artistic and the staff is friendly and well trained. You will also have the opportunity to stare at many birds that feed from the trees and plants! Ideal place to connect with the plant world !
In case you would like to combine your visit to the gardens with a meal, there is a very nice restaurant, but be aware that it is closed on Mondays. The only negative thing is that not all plants are adequately described.
