“Bay Area in the Buff”

Baker Beach is a public beach on the peninsula of San Fransisco, California, U.S. The beach lies on the shore of the Pacific to the northwest of the city. It is roughly a half mile (800 m) long, beginning just south of Golden Gate Point (where the Golden Gate Bridge connects with the peninsula), extending southward toward the Seacliff peninsula, the Palace of the Legion of Honor and the Sutro Baths. The northern section of Baker Beach is "frequented by clothing-optional sunbathers". As such it is considered a nude beach.

Ok so the views are great....depending on how you look at it. We arrived and were greeted by lots of nude old fat men. Walking proudly around like peacocks so they could be seen. They weren’t just lying on the beach to get a full tan or in the water, no. These particular men were purposely walking up to people and photobombing their photos of the Golden Gate Bridge. Great views of the bridge but try to keep your head really high or just walk with your head down and hopefully you’re good at photoshop.

Most of the travel books we read claim this as the best beach in the city. It is windy. Constantly. And it's cold. Bring a jacket, hat, and gloves if you plan on watching the sunset at the beach (which you want to do). The sun sets for the classic "post card shot" of the Golden Gate Bridge.

This beach is a must see!! The negative reviews I read were surprising. Yes it will be windy there...you are literally on the ocean..and if you read about San Francisco, its pretty much always chilly so bring a jacket. Swimming is also not advised, this is not Florida where it is hot and has warm water. The water is freezing and there are rip currents. We saw a few people swimming without wetsuits, they were not in for long and they did not go in deep. Now as for nudity, it is allowed, but I did not see any. It was too chilly for that. But I am giving this beach a 5 star. AMAZING views. A great place to relax in the sand and watch a great sunset. Also not a far walk from where you park. (If you have kids, keep the nudity aspect in your thoughts that you could see it)

Nice views of the Golden Gate, but don't be surprised if you see some dude's willy looking at you since it's a nude beach.
