“nationally-acclaimed donut paradise”
In 1974, right out of high school, a young man named Joe started up a donut shop in Sandy, Oregon on the corner of Hwy 211 and Pioneer Blvd (Hwy 26). Since then, Joe’s Donuts has grown from a small shop frequented by locals, to a nationally-acclaimed donut paradise recognized for the quality of donuts they produce. Skiers, campers, outdoor enthusiasts, and tourists have made it a tradition to stop at Joe’s on their way through Sandy, the gateway to Mt. Hood, to satisfy their sweet tooth. The owners produce their donuts today the same way they did in 1974 and automation like the ‘big’ guys is just not in their plans. They take special care in every donut they make and have twenty or more varieties of fried and baked pastries each day. Joe’s Donuts has become an important part of the community and a special place for people to come from all parts of Oregon and Washington. Visitors from other states and countries have made it one of the places to visit while in the northwest.
