Santa Monica Civic Center Parking Structure

This 300,000-square-foot structure is the country's first LEED-certified parking garage, which means the building showcases a successful effort at saving energy and protecting the environment.  Along with 900 spaces for traditional cars, the garage reserves 14 spots for electric vehicles and has storage for bicycles. The building is powered by solar panels (which double as shades for cars on the roof), uses LED lighting and was built with sustainably sourced materials.
