“Golden sunrises, silver moonlit evenings”
Grayton Beach consistently ranks among the most beautiful and pristine beaches in the United States. Grayton Beach State Park provides an idyllic setting for swimming, sunbathing and surf fishing and is the backdrop for golden sunrises and silver moonlit evenings. The nearly 2,000-acre park features a boat ramp that provides access to the lakes brackish waters for both freshwater and saltwater fishing. Visitors can paddle a canoe or kayak on scenic Western Lake to get a closer look at a salt marsh ecosystem. A nature trail winds through a coastal forest where scrub oaks and magnolias stand, bent and twisted by the salt winds. Hikers and bicyclists can enjoy more than four miles of trails throughout the pine flatwoods. Options for overnight stays include modern cabins and a full-facility campground.

Campgrounds are in great condition, not far away from the beach.
Great crystal waters, clean white sand and not overcrowded.
Great for spending the weekend or even more time to relax with the family of friends.
I'll just agree with what others have written. Great campground, with great sites, in an ideal location. We stayed in the newer loop and were happy with the privacy. The older loop is even better, but you lose sewer, and a lot of the sites are smaller. Our only complaint - and it's very minor - is that some of the sites need to be re-graded. We actually stayed in 3 different sites while there and 2 of them required blocks... one of them, a LOT of blocks. Otherwise, it's just a fantastic campground in a fantastic place. The beach is gorgeous and the town has everything you could need.

I wanted to stay here for quite some time, because of friends who have been here. I will say I loved my site. It was very private. I loved the beach. Beautiful, but I didn't like that the beach was so far away from the campground. I had my bike which made it better, but I guess I was spoiled by St. Joe Peninsula SP. I liked that the laundry was free. The restrooms were clean. The overall park seemed tight. That being said, I would love to come back and experience it for a longer stay.

We really enjoyed our stay at Grayton Beach! The beaches, restaurants and shops along 30A are fantastic. The campground is very nice because the sites are huge and quite private. However, there is one huge issue in the older section! The trees and brush are so overgrown that it was nearly impossible backing our 29ft travel trailer into site 018. We actually sustained quite a few scratches on the back and top of the trailer. The ranger even commented that the overgrowth has been a huge issue for many campers. Please keep in mind that the overgrown sites are all in the older section.

Lucked out and snagged a coveted site on the lake due to a last minute cancellation. We were in the “old” section and the sites are generous and private with many trees separating the sites. Very quiet. Bathrooms/showers were clean (although the paths to them were a little jungle like). Canoe and kayak rentals available although we did not use. Would have been nice to have bike rentals available but they are in town. We walked into the town of Grayton Beach for lunch. Nice white sand beach but not as flat and walkable as others. The only reason we would not stay hstay here again is because, for us, there was not much to do except beach walking.

This is a wonderful state park. The sites are large, flat and well maintained with crushed gravel. We were in the 30/50 amp full hook up loop but they have a 2nd loop that's water/electric only with dirt sites.
You can walk or bike to the beach (about .60 mile). The beach is gorgeous. Emerald waters with white, powdery sands. I have not seen a nicer beach. The staff was friendly and the campers were quiet and respectful.
Bathrooms were clean.
Cell service was good. Verizon 47d/l and ATT 16 d/l unboosted. I didn't try T mobile.
OTA was excellent with most major channels plus extras.
The nearby areas had lots of shopping and dining. Check out Watercolor and Seaside. They were the cutest little beach towns and reminded me a little of Key West.
The only negative I could mention is the dogs were not happy that they weren't allowed on the beaches. Nor were they pleased with the abundance of sticker balls that kept getting in their feet. There is a nice nature trail at the beach parking lot that dogs are allowed on and the nearby towns were very dog friendly.
There's also a very long off street paved walking/biking path that will take you into the towns. I think it was something like 20 miles in length.
There's a good laundromat (EZ Coin Wash) 9 miles away. Overpriced but very clean with a decent amount of large machines (triple loaders). 2 close Publix stores for groceries.

We were really excited about staying at Grayton Beach , but it was not a very good experience The campsites are small, which we knew they would be but thought we would have room for our vehicles. Our campsite 34 flooded when it rained and we had water up to our ankles. This site should not even be available for camping. The bathhouse is only cleaned once a day. I believe there must have been a problem with the electric service , because our door would shock us sometimes. The beach is beautiful and that is why we gave it two stars.

Thirty-five sites in the old section were under construction during this visit. They appear to be for smaller rigs and will only have 30 amp service and water. That means there were only thirty-four possible sites available in the other more-expensive full hookup section. We lucked out and got one reserved seven months ago. Site #39 (now changed to site #41) was tucked away by itself and quiet. The 30 amp breaker was broken but I was carrying a 50 amp converter with me so no problem. Being a good citizen (something the prior camper on this site was not), I reported the broken breaker at the ranger station. AT&T cell service was again excellent with a reliable full three bars of 4G available. Also getting the Florida resident half-rate geezer discount always helps.
We had enough time late in the afternoon the first day to run Bob the dog out to the beach trailhead of the Pine Flatwoods and Barrier Dunes Hiking Trail. Not sure how long the trail is but it was beautiful, interesting, and a good workout through the soft white sand. The trail meandered through the dunes, a canopied grove of Sand Live Oaks, and then clusters of Slash Pines and Southern Magnolias nearer the rather large Western Lake. Yaupon Holly were also in abundance, but no wildlife was on view probably due to the windy and cold weather.
A very high quality and cute bakery/coffee shop is nearby in Grayton Beach. Black Bear Bread makes a fine cup of coffee to go along with their sandwiches, salads, soups, and desserts. It is probably no more than a mile and a half from the campground and is an easy and safe bike ride if so inclined. The Flatwoods Hiking and Biking Trail is also a great place to get some exercise and commune with nature. The 30A trailhead is about 100 yards east of the entrance to the park. Plenty of free parking and a good wooden fence in which to lock your bike. Several miles of well-maintained trails meander through the Flatwoods and a couple spur off the main trail such as the Western Lake Loop and the Longleaf Connector. The main trail is 4.5 miles long one-way from 30A to Hwy 395. This is definitely a top ten Florida state park and one we will return to.

One of our very favorite campgrounds. A popular small and cozy place. Big rigs beware. This is the place where small rigs rule. Only in the higher numbered sites sit the brazen behemoths.
Beautiful white sand beaches, long paved biking trails, sandy wooded trails to hike in, and a couple satisfactory coffee shops in town. For those who want more of the privileged life, a short and safe bike ride to Seaside through Watercolor might be in the cards. Plenty of shopping abounds, as well as restaurants and bars galore.
But the quiet life still prevails in Grayton Beach State Park. Almost spiritual in its simplicity and natural beauty. The Florida native trees and shrubs keep sites private. Sort of a coastal scrub-growth that we find desirable.
Two bars of reliable AT&T cell service, hot showers, laundry, and full hookups. Our site 36 was in the recently remodeled “old” section. Still private and natural. $18 per night reflects our Florida resident senior discount. A four night stay at the beach was perfect before heading back to base camp after ten weeks on the road.

Had a great time at beautiful Grayton Beach State Park. The beach was amazing. Sugar-white sand, that stretched for miles, and nearly deserted during our mid-October stay. Ocean water clear like I've only seen in the Carribean and the campground was clean with sites that rank among the best State Park sites we've ever camped at. Professional, friendly staff. Quiet. The sites were far apart and there was enough shrubs and trees for privacy between sites. All are full hookup., Very expensive restaurants though so bring enough food to dine in. Also, all restaurants in the area are cash or check only. Hope to return some day and stay longer.
