Nice state park. We just stopped for a night for a place to stay on our road trip. Camping price was cheap and fair, no frills or thrills. Good bathroom, nice playground for kids.

The lake was beautiful and stars at night showed like you wouldn't believe. Gets really windy so make sure you can stake down your tent properly. Gusts reach 40 mph regularly.
The staff was friendly, with a camp host that provided us information about the numerous hiking trails. The bathrooms were clean and heated.
Santa rosa made us fall in love with the southwest and we definitely plan to return.

Beautiful! Stars at night were beautiful and bright. Campsite was quiet and nice with lots of room between other campers offering peacefulness and privacy. Short trees (Pinon...I think) with view of lake. Electrical hookup was in good shape. Even though no water hookup it was very close by. The campsite host was so pleasant and knowledgeable. When he did his walkabout, we spent about 5 min talking to him and enjoyed the conversation. Safe and peaceful place.

We didn't make a reservation, but there were a handful of 1st-come sites. Unfortunately, the one we grabbed didn't have water, but there's a roadside spigot -- don't forget to fill up your tank before parking! (oops!)

We stayed here Wed-Sat. All our neighbors were very quiet and kept to themselves. We had one noisy neighbor Friday night, but they quieted down around 9pm. It was a little windy Wed/Thurs, but the weather was great. The sunrises were beautiful. Our kids enjoyed the visitor centers (2 of them) and we found a few geocaches nearby.

Santa Rosa itself was fun for a day trip -- Blue Hole was cool and there's a nearby "water park" (some slides into a lake) that I bet would be fun in summertime.

Overall, the value here was awesome. $14 a night for electric (and water if you reserve a site!) is a killer deal and we will definitely be back!

Camped here in June 2014 on my way up to Angel Fire, New Mexico. It was very hot during my stay and at my site, A2 not much in the way of shade. But the campground was clean and most sites looked level. The best thing I did was go to the Blue Hole in nearby Santa Rosa. It was so much fun after you get used to the cold water. You can also scuba dive here.

There is also a few short hiking trails near the campground.

Was unable to reserve a water/electric site online and at the park the spaces can only be reserved for one night, so I don't know how you get a site for a few days with water. Our site was pull through and fairly level. Covered table was nice, but blocked view from our windows. Our 30 amp electric worked fine.

All but one road to the lake was closed, day use areas included. Camp host keeps the place very clean, is very nice. Blue Hole and the drive to Puerto de Luna were worth our stop here but we left early.

We would stay again for a couple days, maybe more with access to the lake. It's a pretty long drive back to the park.

We reserved electric only site, A17 but that was a bit short for our 39 ft rig. The camp host was very helpful selecting and changing us into site A11. The fresh water tank can be filled across from the bathroom.

We spent 3 nights here on our way across NM this month and found it to be a what we were looking for at the time - a quiet place with a good internet connection to stop and get some some work done.

There are two campground loops at the Rocky Point Campground - A & B. Only the A loop has water and electric hook-ups and Loop B was closed to campers during our stay (guess it was for the season?), but was still accessible by foot. There is a trail head for the Shoreline Trail (a short, easy 1.25 mile loop that follows the lake) in campground B, which made for a nice route for our daily dog walks.

There was construction being done on several sites, including the one right behind us (it looked like they're improving the water & electric lines) but despite this, the place was still pretty darn quiet. There's a fancy playground area for the kiddos, and showers/ bathrooms were clean. The dump station is on the main road into the park, just after the entrance.

Santa Rosa itself is interesting - the place definitely has an old Route 66 feel to it and the Blue Hole swimming area is small but neat. The 61 degree water was a bit too cold for us to swim when we visited, but I can imagine it's awesome in the thick of summer!

Stayed here on our way back to Texas from camping in Colorado. I guess I got a bit spoiled by the campsites my family stayed at in Colorado and I was not overly impressed with this park.

I had reservations for 2 nights and decided to only stay the one night to rest. The park was mostly quiet except from one neighbor that had a little party going. Only saw the park ranger go through the one time in the morning before we packed up and left.

Be mindful of skunks. I saw several ( or the same one) a couple of times. It was at our camp site and at others moving about.

The bathrooms were clean and had showers in this campground.

We stayed here in early December 2017 while making our way north to Colorado. Our site was a reservation pull through site. Site was narrow and campground host cautioned us on the thorny bushes planted right on the edge of the site. Glad he told us that - there were several right next to and all around the sites. There were stickers everywhere too - not too inviting and really irritating with our dog.

Most of the other sites we saw were tiny and very in-level. The campground tables, roads and equipment just seemed old. Bathrooms were fine. Town of Santa Rosa is very small. I would not stay here again if in the area - I'd go to Villanueva State Park or some other park. The camphost was helpful and nice. Park Rangers were filling in from other camps - one told us they didn't have permanent staff here - may be just because of the off-season.
