“the finest booty & loot!”

Since 1753, The Pirate's House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Situated a scant block from the Savannah River, The Pirate's House first opened as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a rendezvous for blood-thirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Here seamen drank their grog and discoursed, sailor fashion, on their exotic high seas adventures from Singapore to Bombay and from London to Port Said.

The entire family will enjoy Savannah's most intriguing restaurant. At the Pirate's House, our most precious treasure is our food, acclaimed for over three decades. Our extensive menu includes dishes for all tastes and our varied selection of scandalous desserts is sure to delight. Like a tale of the high seas, The Pirate's House rambles in all directions. We operate 15 separate dining rooms each with a distinct charm all its own.

I took my three kids and they all had a great time. The service was great and the waiter really had fun with the kids. He also refrained from telling his usual ghost story during his recitation of the history of the house in which the restaurant resides, which was nice, as I would've been up all night with scared kids if he had related the story. They hand out cardboard pirate garb to the kids as well. It wasn't even as expensive as I thought it would be.

The only thing that was kind of strange is that the house is split up into a bunch of different rooms -- it used to be a house/inn after all, and it's been added onto a lot and is huge now. So we were seated in a small little room with three tables -- in fact it's the room on the other side of the blue-shuttered window pictured above. And it was really quiet, as the other two tables were occupied by older couples, and I felt really self-conscious about my energetic kids in this small, intimate, close-quartered little room with four very quiet strangers. They were very pleasant people, it was just a little awkward for me. So maybe ask to be seated in a larger, noiser room if you've got kids.

We went here in the fall of 2015. I have 6 kids plus my husband and I. We called ahead to see if seating would be a problem. When we got there, we were seated in the old house part of the restaurant with a room to ourselves. (the room with the stairs leading to no where) Our waitress told us the history of the house and, when asked, a couple of not-too-scary ghost stories. The pirate actress walking around gave us a tour and took pictures with my kids. I expected the place to be packed since it is so famous. Although it was not slow, it definitely wasn't too busy. It was a lot of fun. I reccomend it to people when I know they will be going to Savannah.

Third time at the place. I love the history and location. If you like history it's a must.

Expect a wait unless there is room at the bar. There are booths in the bar area. A little pricey, but quality is good, and portions are generous.

I went there with my family because of the reviews here on RT. What a disappointment. I don't think the waiter liked us. Not sure why. Maybe because were were not locals. No matter, I wasn't sure until our meal was over, but our waiter straight ignored us. Every time I said thank you for something he did, he did not respond. I am not a softly spoken man. My wife asked for regular potatoes instead of sweet potatoes and he ignored her. Her salmon was dry and over priced. The taste was good but over cooked. Not what you would expect for $30. Long Horn cooks a better salmon. OUr waiter told the people at the tables around us some history but neglected to share with us. Big disappointment. IF you have picky kids, do not go there. I had the pan seared grouper with crab rosoto. it was mediocre at best. All in all, I will never go back.
