“Fun way to support conserving our marine environment”

The Seattle Aquarium is the ninth largest aquarium in the U.S. by attendance and among the top five paid visitor attractions in the Puget Sound region. Since our opening, we’ve hosted over 22 million visitors and provided marine conservation education to over 1.6 million school children. We’re proud to be accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums.Opened in 1977, the Seattle Aquarium was owned and operated by the City of Seattle Department of Parks and Recreation until 2010, when the nonprofit Seattle Aquarium Society assumed its management—a model used by most leading zoos and aquariums across the country. In 2007, the Aquarium opened a major expansion that added 18,000 square feet of space to the facility, including an impressive 120,000-gallon exhibit, a gift shop, café, meeting/event space and more.

I absolutely enjoyed this aquarium! I'm from Florida so I have grown custom to Caribbean coral reef ecosystems and marine life so it was a real nice change of scenery when I saw all of the Pacific marine life and ecosystems here. Especially the giant Pacific octopus! The aquarium is also very expansive and open which is great for a visual tour to see all stuff without missing anything out.

I've been to quite a few aquariums and this one is probably my favorite. It's just straight up fun. The tickets aren't all that expensive, it's never all that busy, and the staff are helpful and willing to answer any questions you've got. The aquarium is also in a great part of town, so when you're done afterwards you can wander around, grab lunch, or hang out on the peer.

A very nice aquarium, and one of the best I've ever been to personally. It should be, considering the area. Just recently, it got a pretty hefty upgrade which added loads of new exhibits.

Best time to visit might seem counterintuitive, but fall and winter are great because the place empties out and there's way less tourists or class field trips going on.

We had a good time at the aquarium. It's a bit pricey but if you purchase a City Pass and use it to see a few other attractions, its worth it. I really enjoyed seeing the Pacific Octopus 🐙 named Vincent. Got a couple of great pictures with him.

This aquarium was very fun! The touch table was my kids favorite, and watching the diver in the big tank! A Seattle must!

I was really looking forward to this aquarium and I think built it up too much. It was great seeing the octopus that is something I've not seen in any other aquarium. I'm from the beaches in California so I'm use to a lot of water nature but that octopus was new for me. I'd recommend going while down by the pier, it's right there and you won't be let down.
