“a Seattle original for the best whisky and craft beer”
Stay with us, now: The Whisky Bar's original space at Second and Virginia is once again called the Corner Bar, run by neighboring Buenos Aires Grill, while the Whisky Bar itself relocated to where Splash Lounge—and before that, V-Bar Noodle Bar & Lounge—failed to thrive , just down the street (and where, sigh, Saito's sushi was for so long). It's nicer than it used to be, but whether that's a good thing or not is open to debate. What's here now is a good attempt at a northern European/UK-style watering hole with a bit of bistro effort from the kitchen. As you would expect, the whisky list is pretty enormous, with lots of Scotch, Irish, Canadian, and American choices. Not a ton of Japanese, and not too many blends, but the bottle list is impressive in the areas where they focus. The tap list is pretty damn good, too, and they host brewer's nights and embrace that side of the industry. The menu is pretty cool. Plenty of pub grub choices--haggis, meat loaf, sliders, cheeses, and so on. Hearty pub grub. It's $10-12 for a few bites on each plate, though. Not a great place to try to have a full meal. It's really for snacks. But they're intensely flavorful and done very well.
