“Camping perfection at Center Hill Lake”
Edgar Evins State Park features a modern, six-building lodging complex. One of the buildings houses 4 one-bedroom suites, and five of the buildings house 6 one-bedroom suites. Each suite accommodates 6 adults, and comes completely equipped with linens and a full kitchen. The park also features 60 tent and trailer campsites, platform-style and built around the slopes of Center Hill Lake. Each is equipped with a table, grill and fire ring. The platforms are designed to hold a camper or cabin tent up to 33 feet in length. There are three modern bathhouses on the site, equipped with hot showers, and a sewage dump station that is centrally located. Pets are allowed on leashes. Twenty campsites and one bathhouse are open year-round, and there are 9 available primitive campsites.
We really enjoyed our two night stay at Edgar Evins State Park. The sites are wooden platforms built out over a hill that descends to the lake. We tow a popup camper (20’ opened) with a four door Jeep Wrangler and we fit in the spot just fine. There were other larger campers with slide outs there are well. Some sites would be difficult to back a camper into, but you can see photos of the sites on the website when you make reservations. We were at site 51 and it was perfect. I can see how some people might find walking uphill to the bathhouse tiresome, but it wasn’t too bad. Also, if you have a dog there are not too many places for your pup to do it’s business. The bathroom and showers were immaculately clean; they were probably the cleanest bathrooms I’ve ever seen at a state park. A big thank you to Kathy, the campsite host, who made us feel welcome from the moment we met her. We are already planning our return to EESP on our next trip through Tennessee.
