Ludvig's Bistro is proud to offer fresh local seafood, house made bread and desserts, and Sitka Sound's own Alaska Pure Finishing Salt. Colette Nelson spent three seasons salmon fishing in the Gulf of Alaska. Realizing the enormity and grandeur of the sea; baiting hooks, hauling gear, running lines, and cooking in the galley, Nelson found great pleasure in knowing where her food came from. For ten years Colette has been the chef and proprietor of Ludvig's, a seafood restaurant specializing in Mediterranean flavors. Lauded by many, including The New York Times, the UK Guardian, The Miami Herald and Fodor's as a true a passion place,Colette receives much pleasure out of creating delicious food and making memories for her guests. Ludvig is not a Mediterranean name of dish, but a wolf-hybrid that came into Colette's life in 1995. He was nearly dead when found but miraculously survived. Thus, his namesake is Ludwig van Beethoven in honor of his 9th Symphony, "Ode to Joy" which means "Thanks for Life." Ludvig was filled with life and his fondness for children was a sight to behold.
