“perfect place to sit in the sun or play in the waves”

South Beach, also nicknamed SoBe, is a neighborhood in the city of Miami Beach, Florida, United States. It is the area south of Indian Creek and encompasses roughly the southernmost 23 blocks of the main barrier island that separates the Atlantic Ocean and Biscayne Bay. This area was the first section of Miami Beach to be developed, starting in the 1910s, thanks to the development efforts of Carl G. Fisher, the Lummus Brothers, John S. Collins, and others. The area has gone through numerous artificial and natural changes over the years, including a booming regional economy, increased tourism, and the 1926 hurricane, which destroyed much of the area.

South Beach is iconic. You really have to swing by if you're in the area. All the comments about muscle beach are SO true and you see people rollar blading/making out on the side of the road. The colors are also vibrant and wonderful.

We arrived at the South Beach around midday. The traffic jam was massive but we finally arrived. Parked the car and headed straight to the beach which I must say was overcrowded.

We sunbathed, the children sat under the umbrella, and we went swimming several times. The sand was very hot but the breeze of the sea water chilled our bodies.

Restaurants and bars are located next to the beach and you can enjoy Miami's nightlife there.

Good place to visit, but make sure you go there early otherwise you will be surrounded by a big amount of people or get stuck in the traffic jam.

I would say avoid it during spring break times, or other times that are peak. off-peak visit is a must, the scenery and ocean is fantastic.

Visited here a few times, most recently January 2016. I like South Beach, I love people-watching and walking around the neighborhood to gawk at all the beautiful Art Deco buildings. The food is pretty good if you get off the strip, but many South Beach restaurants really cater to tourists and the quality is just okay, but pretty expensive. Be warned though winter in Miami can be a little chilly, so pack accordingly.
