“a sparkplug lighthouse”
Spring Point Ledge Light is a sparkplug lighthouse in South Portland, Maine that marks a dangerous obstruction on the west side of the main shipping channel into Portland Harbor. Enjoy a rare and unique opportunity to explore the inside of an active working lighthouse under the guidance of those who know the lighthouse best.
This is such a cute light house ! In the summer, I was told by somewhere around where I parked, that you can park in the student lots at the school for free. There is also a parking area to the left of the lighthouse by some portable bathrooms. It’s fun to walk down the big rocks to the lighthouse. If you walk to the back of it and just sit on the rocks it’s so peaceful. You can’t climb it but it’s still a neat area for sure. There are some benches all along the water area. I spent a long time here just relaxing.
If you walk up the stairs behind the benches it takes you along the water and if you keep going you can even go to a beach area. I will for sure be back here!
Very cool lighthouse and easy to access!
