Shinnecock Hills Golf Club is a prestigious links-style golf club located in the hamlet of Shinnecock Hills in the town of Southampton on Long Island in the U.S. state of New York. It has hosted the U.S. Open four times in three different centuries. Shinnecock Hills Golf Club was formed in 1891 by a group of residents of Southampton, New York. The group bought eighty acres of land in the Shinnecock Hills of Southampton and engaged Willie Davis, a golf professional from Montreal, to lay out the original twelve-hole course. In the spring of 1895, noted Scottish golfer Willie Dunn expanded the layout of the course to 18 holes.
