“cuisine of the Lower Cape Fear”
The original Mr. P (Norman Phipps) started his career shucking oysters as a young boy at his aunt's restaurant "Faircloth's Oyster Roast" in Wrightsville Beach. After many years of hard work and dedication Mr. P left behind a spirit that has inspired his children and grandchildren who have now begun to carry on his legacy. Stephen Phipps (Executive Chef and Mr. P's son) trained in the mid 80's at Johnson and Wales in Charleston, SC. While going to school he worked with several restaurants that specialized in Low Country cuisine. Philip Phipps and Virginia Phipps Fouch also trained away from home and regrouped with their brother Steve to create a solid team of culinary artists. Chris Smith (General Manager and Mr. P's son-in-law) joined the Phipps family in the mid to late 90's. After earning his restaurant management degree, he worked his apprenticeship under Mr. P and now oversees administrative and service responsibilities. The behind-the-scenes experience of this cuisine and our families’ multi-generational history of quality service and hospitality have helped develop our product into a local favorite.
