“Museum at Bass Pro Shop”
The product of an NRA and Bass Pro Shops partnership, The NRA National Sporting Arms Museum is located at the Bass Pro Shops “granddaddy of all outdoor stores” in Springfield, Mo. Trace the development and evolution of hunting arms in America from pre-colonial times to the present. Museum goers can expect to see nearly a thousand historically significant firearms. Historically significant collections have been loaned to the NRA specifically for exhibition at this new museum, including: Firearms and artwork from the Remington Arms Company factory collection, including one-of-a-kind prototypes, historic arms and milestone guns. A multi-million dollar collection of 120 U.S. military pistols from 1797 through 1900. A multi-million dollar collection of engraved Colt revolvers of the Old West. Other exhibits feature a timeline of American sporting arms, a timeline of American military long arms from flintlock through M16, guns of Theodore Roosevelt and his friends and family are on display along with the story of TR’s role in conservation and Hollywood guns used in famous movies by actors such as John Wayne, Tom Selleck, Charlton Heston, Clint Eastwood, Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Marlon Brando, James Arness, among others. Admission and parking are free.
