“With over 3,000 Acres of Water!”
There are over 3,000 acres of water surface on Lake Bruin, and the visitors to Lake Bruin State Park have access to every acre for incomparable freshwater fishing, superb water sports and fine outdoor living. The 53-acre site was originally established in 1928 as a fish hatchery. Three large fishing piers, a year-round boat launch, and a boat shed for docking make things convenient for the casual or serious fisherman. Rental boats are available. Largemouth bass fishing is popular all year round, but the best months are April, May, June, September and October. Crappie (white perch) are taken around the piers and mats in the early spring. Bluegill fishing is best in the shallower waters at both ends of the lake. Water sports, pleasure boating and swimming are also popular activities at Lake Bruin. A special area along the lake with a sandy beach is set aside for swimming. A bathhouse is located nearby. Lake Bruin's day use area offers picnic tables and barbeque grills situated near the lake and adjacent to two of the fishing piers, restrooms and playground areas. A covered pavilion allows park visitors to enjoy their meals whatever the weather. Most facilities are wheelchair accessible.

No trails to hike but the draw to this park would be the water activities on the lake. We saw lots of fisherman. The sites are close together and might be a problem when busy but we were there in the winter with about 4 other campers so it was quiet. There were lots of birds around to watch and learn as we did quite a bit. The facilities were very nice and the laundry room was the best enclosed one I have seen and experienced. A really good grocery store and dollar general only about 5 miles away. Take a walk on the levy for something different. They had wifi that worked well for the basics.

Stopped in here for one night on our way back home. Got in at 8:00 pm it looked like a nice campground, it is well lit and well maintained. There were a dozen other campers, and the usual Saturday night campground noise, but when 11:00 pm came around a pack of teenagers were running thru the park screeming and yelling. Just kids right. This kept up till I finally had to call the Sherriff at 1:30 am. He drove thru at around 2:00 the kids yelled here comes the law and went inside and it was quiet the rest of the night. It's a very nice park, but I'd avoid the weekends.

Arrived on Sunday and a little noisy with campers but most left on Sunday. Very peaceful looking at the lake. The campsite is about 15 ft from the water filled with cypress trees. Sites next to the lake are kind of cramped. Sunset last night was awesome. Nothing to do in town or around St. Joseph that we could find.

Stayed Sun- Tues so it was pretty empty, sites are closer together than a typical state park, but similar to other waterfront campgrounds we’ve been at,site #2 has a little more space around it because it’s at a slightly different angle
One of the cleanest bathhouses I’ve ever seen!
Nice swimming area and a splash pad for the kids!
One drawback- sites #1-5 are under the harsh glow of a bright street light,
Each site has a nice wood plank platform next to the driveway.
Heads up-Site 15 is right next to the fishing pier, so you would have people walking through your driveway if it was more crowded

Sites 4-6 have Great Lake views and you can park your boat right at your campsite. Quiet beautiful setting to camp. A really nice splash pad. Wifi and cell service are ridiculously bad so the kids can put down their damn devices and actual be present. Ahhhh

Great park on the river. We have 43 ft fifth-wheel all are back in sites with water and electric. The park is clean, the bath house is tidy and one of best handy cap showers I have seen. We also was given a military discount.
