This was my second visit to the arch and again we thoroughly enjoyed the trip - the arch sits beautifully against the St Louis skyline and within a beautiful park. Beneath the park you can visit a museum which walks you through the history of the area or you can go up to the observation deck and look out over both sides of the river. A definite must visit for your trip to St Louis.

My dad told me before I ever visited that the ride up is something else and he's right. You ride up in these little pods that stop and pivot to get up the arch. It's quite the experience. The other crazy part is the arched floor in the observation deck. How can anyone visit St. Louis and not go up in the arch?! Worth the wait to knock this off your bucket list!

This thing is absolutely massive! It is without a doubt in my mind worth the 10 or so dollars to ride in the tiny elevator for the view from the top! Its a must see in st. louis and a place you will most likely not forget as its not something you see everyday!

What a great place! The 4 min ride to top was fun cramped and exciting ! Can say we did it now! The inside museum was very educational!

The wait to go up to the top of the Arch was several hours and we couldn't wait. Buy tickets in advance! Also, the museum inside is poorly laid out and confusing to wander through.

Breathtaking. So much bigger than I'd imagined and the view from the top is something else - not to mention the ride to it.

Beautiful park grounds beneath the arch and a really fun and retro trip up to the top! Definitely worth then stopping for.

The Gateway Arch reflects St. Louis' role in the Westward Expansion of the United States during the nineteenth century. The park is a memorial to Thomas Jefferson's role in opening the West, to the pioneers who helped shape its history, and to Dred Scott who sued for his freedom in the Old Courthouse.

A great attraction, perfect for a family visit. Get there early and be sure to buy your tickets in advance if you want to ride up to the top of the Arch, although warning to claustrophobics and tall people that the pods you ride up in are incredibly cramped. Down on the ground, the museum is great and there are two films to see: a documentary about the construction of the arch that impresses with it's dizzying heights, and an IMAX film about the expedition of Lewis and Clark, both well-worth the price of admission.

While there, take a walk over to the Old Courthouse to learn about the Dred Scott case, and also to get some incredible photos of the Arch from a distance.

Worth the stop but we made the mistake of going on a Sunday while there was a football game later that day. All the parking lots and garages were game-day prices and not worth it. It was worthwhile to drive into the city just to see it!

I was in Awe of the monument the first time I saw it and have been the many visits since! The story of its construction is amaxing in itself. The view from the top is breathtaking and a true must!
Be warned however, the ride to the top is quite confined and not A/C (at least the last we were there) but the ride is not too long of one. Even if you're affraid of heights (which our son is) the ride to the top is a must. The windows are small so it was a pleasant trip for him as he didn't have to peer out the window if he didn't want but still got say he had been to the top of the arch!!!

The size of the arch and it's vantage point from almost everywhere in the city, makes the Arch a must visit. The base has a beautiful walking path and park around it and their is an elevator if you want a view of the city from the top - and a great local history museum underneath. Well worth the visit!

Beautiful from the inside and out. Word of warning---if you are claustrophobic even slightly you will not enjoy the ride to the top!

I've never take the ride on the tiny elevator up to the top (reading the other comments about it has made me very jealous, though...) but just the looks of it from the outside is a really cool/unique site. This is THE icon in St. Louis, and you can't really go to the city with at least seeing it from a distance. Though I've never done it, it sounds like the tour is a must...

This is a complete package. The ride up the arch and the view from the top are spectacular, the grounds are beautiful, and the underground museum at the base are all well-worth the stop. It can be a half hour or a whole day, depending on what you're interested in.

Really nice area to sit and look at the river too. Currently the surrounding roads are under construction but the walk isn't bad.

We went late at night, we got in about an hour before closing. Unfortunately we had to rush through the museum. I would of really liked to spend a couple hours there and also watch the movie they had about Louis and Clark.

The ride up the arch was something out of a 1960's science fiction movie. You go to the summit in cramped little slow moving "portals" (best way I can describe it). The views at the top are good but restricted due to angle and construction of the windows.

I love this city and the arch is amazing! Get there early if you want to go up- the line can get long- but if you go as a "single rider" you jump to the front of the line. When I came into town (just passing through on my cross country trip- I just sat in the grass under the arch for 5 hours. Watching the setting sun reflect on the arch was breathtaking. I loved it. Going up was crazy! So oddly futuristic in a very retro kind of way..... It was a clear day and I could see 30 miles! Unfortunately the arch is in St Louis- so the view was underwhelming. Everything else was just amazing.

Awesome, but be aware the surrounding park is currently under construction so it's hard to find the entrance

Pretty cool to see, just for the historical significance behind it. There was a surprisingly cool museum there as well, and if you're there you might as well go to the observation deck. The only downside was the construction taking place all around the area, making it hard to navigate and appreciate. Worth a stop though.
