Gayle's

"Gayle's is just the place to be if you were raised by a mom with Midwestern food sensibilities. Even more so if you had a Pennsylvania Dutch grandpa. Given that I had both, I was in seventh heaven at this gem of a diner.  I grew up feasting on scrapple made from my grandpa's recipe and this was the first time I had encountered it outside my mom's kitchen. Amazing! The cooks at Gayle's flatten each slice of scrapple really super-thin and then fry crisp, so that just the most delicious sliver remains juicy. Oh my. And then it comes with grits. And then it's under $10, which to my Seattle eating ways is nothing short of a miracle.  Do not miss this place! It sits just where the road from St. Petersburg curves into St.Pete Beach and is easily cruised by on your way to white sand beaches.
