Here the beautiful Stehekin Valley, with a portion of fjordlike Lake Chelan, adjoins North Cascades National Park. Lake Chelan National Recreation Area rests in a glacially carved trough in the Cascades Range. Lake Chelan, one of the nation's deepest, reaching a depth of 1,500 feet, offers boating, fishing, and lakeshore camping. The average width is less than two miles, but Lake Chelan extends 50 miles into the Cascade Mountains.The National Park Foundation encourages and promotes local fundraising support at individual national park sites. The Washington's National Park Fund is a nonprofit partner of the National Park Service and supports Mount Rainier, North Cascades and Olympic National Parks so they remain vital to our lives and the health of our planet forever.
