“Kampgrounds of America”
Relaxation awaits you at this new KOA with more than 120 Pull-Thru RV Sites, shaded by oaks draped in Spanish moss, tall pines and tropical palmettos. Wander down to the campground's scenic lakefront along the north shore of Lake Marion (the largest lake in South Carolina), where you can settle in for a picturesque sunset. Visit with other campers at the inviting pool or community fire pit, or simply enjoy a game of cornhole or carpet golf. Your pet will enjoy exercising at KampK9! The campground sits about 100 miles from both the North Carolina and Georgia state lines, with quick and easy access off I-95. It's just a few minutes drive to restaurants, shops and several championship golf courses. Historic Charleston, only an hour away, has distinctive architecture, Civil War sites and delicious restaurants. Due to the rural nature of our location, there is not a cable provider in the area; therefore, we are unable to provide cable to our campers. We do provide WiFi. Pool: May 1st-October 31st. Max pull thru: 85 feet. Please call for reservations for sites over 65 feet. This was a one night stay while passing through. The campground was largely vacant and we were place on a site that allowed us to see the lake. Ordered pizza from the local delivery and explored the campground a bit. Campsite spacing above average on our site, Site was shaded and mostly sand.
Update on January 28, 2023 We stayed three nights while headed south. Weather was into the 50's and we had a good time. Campground gets busy near the end of the day with pass through travelers. This is only 2 minutes from route 95 making it an ideal stop over. Also plenty of sites used for the weekend! This camp is typical of an KOA, clean and well maintained. The jump in price from last year was substantial, $57 to $75 and we'll be looking for a less expensive option for next year. $75 is pretty steep when the pool, beach, etc. are available for use. That said, where else can you play yard chess?

A campground with a lot of potential! Lovely, expansive, shady, environment with many large trees and a beach & dock on the river. Beach was nicely maintained with picnic tables, lounge chairs and a playground. Minutes from I-95, and a calm and a beautiful area. Very kind and helpful staff. Small store with souvenirs and necessities, pool (unfilled when we were there), playground for kids and dogs, yummy smelling pizzas available for delivery to your site. A problem was that one comfort station was rundown and the other was closed completely. Toilets and sinks themselves were clean but the walls, floors and doors were actually filthy. There were showers available, but I didn't use them. A few long term resident trailers were extremely old and ill-maintained. Sites were close together but pleasant, some were level-ish, most would need some element of leveling. If this campground can spruce up, especially the comfort stations, the nightly price would be acceptable and it would be a terrific place to stay. We camped at Santee / Santee Lakes KOA in a campervan.

This place looks nothing like the photos. It’s your typical overcrowded KOA with no privacy. People just walk through our campsite without any sort of care. It’s remarkable. I don’t know why anyone would want to stay here more than a night and yet the place is full of 400 lb Bubbas spending their 4th here.
We would have booked the SP down the street but they require 2 night reservations. If we ever pass through here again we’ll book the SP and just eat a night. It’s the same price anyway (35x2) = 1 night KOA rate without Bubbas.

Stayed in end of Nov 2021. Catching up on reviews.
Site type: Pull-through, FHU, 50 AMP, end of row
I do not recall the cell service as it was a while back. It was at least sufficient for us to work on from our hotspots through VPNs, which require at least 3 bars. Hoping that helps.
THE GOOD
Location: Gas close by and groceries not too far.
Grounds: Clean and nicely maintained!
Office/Store: Good sized store. Some grocery items and a good amount of RV stuff.
Site: We had an end site which is nice for our pups because you get some extra space. It also had beautiful views of the lakes and sunset.
THE BAD:
Sites: Unlevel sites.
COULD BE BETTER: Not good or bad

This a relatively new to KOA RV Park. We had a good full hookup site, level, in the woods with plenty of shade, and a reasonably level dirt site. Appears to be a very popular site for fishing and water sports.

Santee Lakes KOA is one of our favorite campgrounds in the country. We have stayed here several times for week long stays and even just for an overnight stay and each and every time we are so happy we have chosen this campground. The management and staff are all so helpful and friendly.
The campground and facilities are very clean and well maintained. It is located right off I-95 and right on Lake Marion so you can easily walk down to the lake from your campsite. Some campsites even have lake views. It's so pretty. They have a very nice camp store stocked with camping essentials as well as fun gifts to purchase during your stay. They also make pizza onsite and will deliver it to your campsite - what can be better than that after a long days drive. I highly recommend Santee Lakes KOA in Summerton, SC

Stayed overnight and probably stay again. Had nice site close to lake with water/elec only. Park must have been bought by KOA as you can see there are some long, long term looking RVs still around. Otherwise curbside check-in easy and escort to site. Nice space between sites, nice breeze by lake. A few dumpsters had bad seafood smell due to others lake waste probably. A good Mexican restaurant across bridge.

We are camping in a 36 " MH. Staff was great in accommodating our request for a pull thru site. Reservation was fast and pleasure to speak with staff. Check in remote and the staff will take you to your site. Lake looks inviting. Boat launch and boat storage. Site was long enough for coach and tow. Very wooded with tall pine. Ground mostly dirt and some gravel. Our site was very level. We will be back with our boat next time! Hunts Pizza onsite. Playground and family oriented. Great wifi
