“As seen on SyFy's Ghost Mine”

Supposedly the Old Crescent Mine in Sumpter, Oregon is so haunted that nobody will work there. But they do. A crew of miners with nicknames like "Fast Eddie" and "Papa Smurf" sullenly dig for gold while paranormal "experts" Patrick Doyle and Kristen Luman try to scare the bejeezus out of them by interpreting any event as a sign from the spirit world. Power outage? Ghost did it. High wind? Ghost caused it. Cave in? Definitely a ghost. They zealously deploy the usual assortment of pseudoscientific ghost busting technology, including a remote controlled vehicle they've named the RIPA ("Remote Indicator of Paranormal Activity") whose numerous battery failures and mechanical malfunctions inevitably get blamed on ghosts. There is much footage devoted to Doyle and Luman using various devices with blinky lights in order to determine if the miners will be "safe" from paranormal forces while working in the mine. In the show's wrapup, they present their "evidence" to the miners; staticky digital audio files and fuzzy video clips of ordinary mine noises and shadows that the miners try their best to act impressed by. You know a show is in trouble when even the paranormal fans are complaining about its fakeness. Luman's claim to have studied "paranormal psychology" at Portland University turns out to be shaky, and she's been spotted acting in a low budget horror film. The "National Paranormal Association" isn't happy with Doyle either, especially his rather blunt admission that all paranormal shows are staged.

I just spent two days working the mine with friends who are sensitive to the paranormal activities and we all felt, experienced things which were not normal. I agree with the April 2021 review, we are all entitled to our opinions but if you have not been there you should be cautious about what you say. The instant we arrived at the mine it was very clear to me there was something there in and around the mine. Over the next 48 hours proved to be a challenge to stay focused at what we were there for - to search for gold. I was invited by my best friend who is not sensitive to paranormal activity. Two of the three I met on the mountain were.

Something I want to make clear is it was not until I got back home and started researching the mine that I discovered the series Ghost Mines. Watching the series on the mine only re-enforced what we had experienced on the mountain. I am new to mining but not to paranormal events. It is very interesting what Kristen and Patrick did but i am one who wants to learn from experiencing life.

I am a combat veteran and have seen things which made no sense to most. I had a near death experience kayaking the Devil's River in Texas, so my sensitivity to paranormal activity is high. This mine should be respected whether you believe or not. In Guam there are ancient spirits who watch over the land, so I believe Kristen's interview with Junior of Sumter is key to this mine's activity. People do not understand this concept and that is ok. On the second morning as the sun was coming up I spoke to what ever ancient spirits were surrounding the mountain. I explained we were there not to disrespect the earth and those who had come before us. I explained we had come to the mountain for the same reasons others before us had done. We were there to honor those who had died in their search. I ask that them protect us, guide us and respect who we were. About the same time, another team member basically did the same with out each of us knowing what the other had done until we were eating breakfast. The day was uneventful and things went smooth until I had to leave.

I brought a five gallon bucket home with about a third of it filled with soil from the mine's floor to practice sifting. During the second night home my floor fan which has a 24 inch by eight inch base turned over. which was sitting next to the bucket with the soil in it There is no one in my home except me. I have no pets or other people in my home. so the adventure begins!

So, the post at the top of this page decides to ignore the fact that 2 OTHER crews “tramped out” (left the mine in fear of activity happening there). Let’s all remember that those 2 crews PRIOR to Ghost Mine didn’t have a paranormal team with them, nor did they have camera crews with them. The individual who posted that drivel seems to want to try and impress y’all with their words and constant negativity when in fact, it’s a well known fact that many mines across the US and throughout the world are indeed haunted. Numerous mines have activity in them that goes unreported BECAUSE of people like the individual above who decided to shoot down every single thing about the show.

The “official description” is a load of opinions coming from a skeptic, which is fine. That’s the opinion and everyone is entitled to have one, but you can NOT deny the fact that ghosts/spirits/shadow people are real.

There ARE residual hauntings.

There ARE intelligent hauntings.

There ARE inhuman hauntings.

The reason this person is so mad is he/she/they are skeptical of the paranormal and refuse to believe or acknowledge the existence of spiritual activity.

I have NEVER been to this mine, but I know 3 people who have. Two of them were residents with one of the residents of Baker City, also worked at the mine, but he was not part of the show. The other was a random person I met while visiting friends in Virginia Beach. They told me of stories they heard and showed me pictures they took that actually had activity shown in the photo.

Ghosts are real. Get over it. Please stop discrediting the paranormal by just saying everything is bogus. Open your eyes to the world. Like the intro for X-Files states, “The truth is out there.”

You just have to have an open mind as well as an open heart.

Good day.

It would help the show's credibility if his wife didn't own an acting agency at the time of filming and editing.

Ghost Mines is a great show, you don't know what the hell you are talking about. you should get your fakes right before you bash one of the better paranormal shows on tv.
