“wine tasting + gold rush history tour!”
Gold Country Wine Tours based in the historic Gold Rush town of Sutter Creek has launched its unique wine tasting tours throughout Amador County's well respected wine region. The tours are designed to enhance the wine tasting experience by educating its guests about the history of the California Gold Rush of 1849 that gave birth to the wineries and wines created in its wake, including the vineyards of Shenandoah Valley, some of which date back 150 years. This wine region within the scenic Sierra Foothills produces over 30 different varietal wines in over 40 wineries and is best known for world-class Zinfandel and Barbera wines. Daily round-trip tours begin with pick-ups at local Hotels, Bed & Breakfast Inns, RV Parks and the Sutter Hill Transit Center where guests are met and whisked away in a comfortable shuttle bus visiting four to six local wineries throughout the day. The all-inclusive, five-hour tours feature wine tasting, a gourmet picnic lunch at a winery, and a souvenir wine glass. Rates for wine tours start as low as $75/person with an introductory 15% discount for groups of 8 or more. Hours of operation: Daily, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
