Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on September 18, 2022The was my first time at Sycamore RV Resort and probably my last. First of all you can’t find the place, no signs on the main street telling you that you are in the right place. The main road into the park looks like you are driving down an alley full of potholes. Then there is a bunch of stop signs and a big sign saying NO TRESPASSING, with a bunch of rules on it. It look as if you are driving into a PRISON CAMP or AREA 51. (NOT very inviting) I walked into office and met (as one reviewer put it), Mr and Mrs Hitler (not their real names). The reviewer hit the nail on the head. These owners were the most unfriendly RV Park owners I have ever met and I’ve been to a lot of park in the last 10 years. First Mrs Hitler started in on me because I’m checking to early, she says you know check-in is 3 PM and I have to charge you for early check in. I said no one told us that when we made the reservations, to which she said “it's on the your Confirmation Sheet”. Who reads the confirmation? I told her the Grand Kids were in a hurry to get to your wonderful park. I asked if I could park off to the side, out of the way until check in time. Her answer was “NO”. When Mr Hilter comes back from checking to see if my site was empty, he told me it was. Mrs Hitler tells him in a nasty tone of voice that she told us that we have to a pay a half day for coming in early. People we were only two hours early, is that a crime, I guess it was to the Hitlers. Mr Hitler then said to me did you unhook your car, I said no, well GO DO THAT RIGHT NOW. Mr Hitler acted like I should have known to do that before coming into the office. Nasty man.
This place has so many rules and regulations that it takes you a whole day to read them all.
I’ll will never go back and recommend that you pass on this one. The owners act like they are doing you a favor being there.
Worst campground we have ever stayed in. Dick, the owner, is like Hitler and runs the place like a military camp. If you want to relax and enjoy your camp weekend, this is NOT the place to go. If you like tight spots, listening to your next door neighbor's conversation while in your own area, and a lot of rules to follow, then this is the place for you! (Oh, that's if you even get a sheet telling you what the rules are!) No stars for Dick!
BTW - Rules are fine when they are met with a friendly attitude. Dick has nothing but a BAD attitude and has no business working with the public.
We did not stay lakeside, so it might be better if you have a lakeside spot. The spots are gravel and pretty close together and there aren't a lot of trees, but its close town.

We needed a quick getaway. They have 2 lakes and around 83 sites so parking was tight (not to bad).

This is a scenic RV park next to a lake. The spots not right by the lake seem a little more packed and probably wouldn't be as nice, but we got one right on the waterfront. The park is quiet and very nice. There is a long walking path around the lake, and the park is near town, so it is convenient whether you need groceries, a night out, or a bike ride.
So why is this not five stars? The treatment from the owner is..... strange. We had just had three long days of driving and got in late afternoon, and it felt like we were the enemy. We were basically told all the things we MUST NOT DO. As the week went on, he softened and actually was friendly, so don't be intimidated by him, but that initial impression left a bad taste in our mouth. A little customer service goes a long way. When someone comes in the door, act like you want them there, not like they are a threat to your private paradise.
If you can get over that, this is definitely a park worth the price.

We stayed for one month here to test out our new travel trailer before heading out on the road. Overall it’s been a great experience - very quiet and peaceful although the park has been full (even in October). We would stay here again.
The spots are close together, but it’s not the worse we’ve seen. If you’re staying monthly the “preferred” spots are only slightly more and give you a lot more room and a grassy lawn instead of gravel. Our spot was a “premium” spot and was right on the lake. The only thing that bothered us was that our neighbors sewer connection was about 1 ft from our fire ring. The monthly fee does not include electric, that is paid at the end of your stay based on use.
As others explained the owner is very direct, not super chatty. But we were fine with that so long as we have whatever we needed, and we did.
We work full time from our RV, and had no issues with our phone or internet service. We primarily use an ATT hotspot for Wi-Fi and Verizon and T-Mobile for cell services. The park Wi-Fi has seemed to work well too, only slowed one night while we were watching Amazon Prime and we switched to our own hotspot.
The local area is quaint, but there are things to do. We enjoyed visiting the Forge brewery and Prairie State Winery. There are also a few restaurants in the local downtown area - a breakfast spot, a few bars, Mexican and Italian restaurant. Grocery stores within a mile, and a great butcher shop right at the entrance to the park (high prices but the meat was great).
We had to go back to the city occasionally for work, it’s not a short drive but you can get there in just over and hour if you go outside of high traffic times. St. Charles/ Geneva is only about 30 min away and has another cute downtown area with breweries, restaurants and a comedy club.

Convenient location to Chicago, pretty grounds and spring fed lakes. Spacing was a bit tight. A lot of full timers. The park and bathrooms are clean. The access is a little street between 2 businesses then you drive a short distance into the park. They charge fees for day guests, night guests. The electronic key for the facilities is $10 (but refunded when returned).

We enjoyed our stay at this park. It gets full on the weekends and there is not much room between RVs. The majority of the park is gravel; however there are concrete pads for the picnic tables at most sites. There are people living at the part in their RVs but they are in a separate area from those passing through. The ones who live there have well kept areas. I have been in RV parks where people are allowed to junk up there living space but this is not one of them. During the week, the area for those passing through somewhat clears out and a few overnighters come through. All in all we had a good experience.

These spaces are some of the tightest I’ve experienced. WiFi was good and free, lake was pretty, but the tight spaces made things uncomfortable. Also, spot 4, where we parked had a shared utility pole. This mean that our “yard” was shared and had zero private space.

The site had a beautiful scenery of the lake and the grounds were kept really nice. There were two lakes that were really nice and had lots of fish but none were biting. The sites were close together but they help you park. The sites only have rocks and a shared utility which made for no privacy. They had cable hook up but no cable but they do have free WiFi that works very well. We couldn’t get any channels so make sure to bring a FireStick or smartTV. The gentleman that greeted us (I believe the owner) was not friendly at all and made it seems as if we were interrupting him, however, after reading some of the reviews we realize it’s just their personality. The guests seem nice and friendly. I highly recommend this park and will be going back.
