“State park in heart of Kansas”

Wilson State Park is located on the south side of Wilson Reservoir. The park is divided into two areas: Hell Creek and Otoe. Primitive and utility camping sites are available, as well as several cabins with electricity and plumbing. There are also RV pads and dump stations in each area. Other activities that can be enjoyed at Wilson State Park are wildlife watching/photography, boating, fishing, horseshoes, biking, hiking, and swimming. Come to one of Kansas' premier recreation hot spots to fish, hike, water-ski, or just enjoy the outdoors. We also have one of the best mountain bike trails in the state.

Awesome awesome so awesome - camped at Yucca campground right on the lake and we were able to bring our car right down there with us as well (you can drive anywhere that's mowed). The sunset was beautiful and amazing and swimming in the lake in the morning was a refreshing start to our day. Favorite camping experience thus far

Beautiful! I went on a Wednesday night so it wasn’t crowded. Primitive parking was $13. Bathrooms are pretty clean. I parked off the lake and camped in my car and had a great time!

My husband and I recently took a trip all around the US tent camping the whole time and this was our favorite spot. The crowd and wildlife are amazing. We only stayed one night but I would travel back there from GA just to get more time at this one stop along out trip. There are many campsites. The bathrooms are open roof to the outside and seemed a little undertaken care of. Overall a great area though.

So you're driving towards colorado through middle Kansas and your mind is racked with boredom, the horizon stretches forever and the road doesn't curve. Your heart rhythm is nearly flatlined. Then, out of nowhere, you see a sign for this park. You drive 10ish miles north of Hwy 70 and a hidden oasis appears.
Wilson Reservoir glitters in the sunlight as you approach and you see folks paddling, boating, and water skiing. Hills (called the Smoky hills) abound. Rock formations jut from the earth.
You find your lovely non-level RV spot and then scout the area's trails. You find the Sweetgrass IMBA EPIC mountain biking trail is here! Truly shocking.
The bath and shower house will not be remembered. But you will remember the big hill you had to climb to get to it. No matter, you will happily sip Freestate Brewery IPA from the growler you filled in Lawrence KS on the way out while admiring the hidden beauty around you.

We stayed here on our way east across Kansas. Off-season, it’s free if you don’t have hookups, or all of $10 for hookups. The water was off except for the dump station (both rinse water and potable available there). We had a great side overlooking the lake. Peaceful and quiet.

A very nice campground with level spots. Took a bit of driving to find a spot so this place is popular. I can see why. We stayed in what was considered a prime spot and paid $26 for water and electric. Great spot for a stopover on I-70, just try to make a reservation to guarantee a spot.

Great park with sites right on the water. All the amenities you'd ever want, great cell signal on both AT&T and Verizon and nice level sites with power and water. We stayed in the Big Bluestem Loop and our site was right on the water. Great fishing too.

Stopped through for a 2 night stopover en route East from Colorado. Tough for anything to hold a candle to the beauty of Colorado — and while Wilson’s isn’t Colorado high country — it really held its own.

The rocky shoreline and red and orange within the rocks were really interesting and unexpected for Kansas. Having spent several weeks in Arizona earlier this spring this was a welcome surprise.

We loved our site and our “private beach” right on the lake. We both are big cyclists — my husband took advantage of the mountain bike trails and I rode on the roads. Both brought a lot of beauty and a fun experience. Plus it was nice to jump into the lake after a bike ride on a hot day!

Somewhat busy but it was the week after July 4, so expected. We didn’t need to use the bath houses. Our friends tent camper in the park nearby and also had a great experience.

Great Verizon service (3-4 bars of LTE) for anyone who needs to work. Only power hookups at our site on the Grama loop, which was fine for us especially because it got us a cheaper rate. There were water spigots nearby but we didn’t need them.

Not near ANYTHING so bring all your food and supplies!

Site 96 had a beautiful view and is a pull through however we needed to back in because there was not enough clearance from the main driveway into the site — too much erosion and a big drop off from the road to the site for our trailer to clear. Not a problem for us to back in—Just be aware of and prepared for this in some of the other older sites If you’re banking on being able to pull through. Site was also not level enough to remain hitched to our van — had to do a tiny bit of leveling. Not a big deal either — but just know not all sites are level If you’re hoping to not need to unhitch.

We had a pull through site, 77 in the Big Bluestem section. This was right at the end of the peninsula and it’s literally feet from the water. The site is wedged between the road and water, so not much space to spread out. Our 33’ Motorhome fit fine and it could easily accommodate larger setups. It’s a really beautiful spot. The one negative was the wind blew like crazy from about 5 am to 7 am. I don’t know if that happens frequently, or just occurred when we were there. Despite that I would stay here again. I think I would just move a few spots down. Wish we could have spent another day here. $5/day (24 hours) vehicle fee for Kansas state parks and the online reservation was $26.
