Kojak's House of Ribs

Kojaks House Of Ribs has been family owned and operated by the Forney family since 1978. A charming atmosphere in a converted southern bungalow style home sitting beneath the shade of great live oak trees.  “Kojaks”, as the south Tampa Institution is know around town, offers indoor seating as well as outdoor seating on the relaxing fan cooled veranda. Kojaks is known for the best ribs from here to West Texas. Everything is HOMEMADE – from the tangy Cole Slaw to Mama’s Chocolate Cake (World Famous)!  She also has an unparalleled homemade fresh Apple Cake, exquisite with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream on top. Other items include BBQ Beef & Pork – lean, tender, and juicy, BBQ’d in Kojak’s zesty BBQ sauce. Pulled Pork, our latest addition to the Menu, tender and juicy – sure to become legendary. Also, a great hot Smoked Country Sausage straight from south Georgia – it’s special and can’t be beat! Great BBQ Chicken that comes in ½ and ¼ dinners.  Variety of Side Orders: killer Baked Beans, Cole Slaw, Potato Salad, Macaroni Salad, Green Beans, and the ever popular Parsley Potatoes.  They serve Beer, Wine and an Infamous Homemade Sangria; also, soft drinks and fresh brewed tea. The name “Kojaks” comes from Bill (JW) Forney who was chief of detectives in Midwest City, Oklahoma (A Super Sleuth!).  Although he left the police force and went into the BBQ Business the name stuck!  He opened his place in the early 70’s and called it House Of Ribs right across from Tinker A.F.B in Midwest City.  His brother, Bud Forney, opened this BBQ Rib House in Tampa and used Bill’s special recipe for the spare ribs, thus “Kojaks House Of Ribs.
