“Food & Drink in Tampa, FL”
Our family business started four generations ago with a traditional outdoor produce market seen in the picture above. The market opened on Florida Avenue in 1926. I started working with fruits and vegetables, work that once belonged to my father, and to my grandfather before that. It soon became a family favorite gourmet market hosting fresh products such as local farmed produce, gourmet cheeses, fresh seafood, and the best quality meats. As a hobby I began smoking meat and cooking barbecue for the South Tampa store. In 2008, we lost the lease to our store which prompted me to stay close to my home in Lutz, where I've lived since the early 70's. I started with pulled pork sandwiches and expanded to include ribs, half chickens, brisket, and the newest favorite smoked salmon. What makes our BBQ so delicious is the quality of the meat, oak wood smoke, dry rub, and my mom's sauce! Today, we go through 60 gallons of the sauce every week, and it’s now sold in 24-ounce bottles at any of the locations. You can bring your old bottle back to the stand and refill it. The last element for savory BBQ is time. If you're in a hurry, cooking barbecue is not for you. We cook the pork all night long and put the ribs on in the morning and they are done by noon. So stop by or give me call!
