“eclectic combination of farm, salvage & recycled art!”

Located in Topeka, Kansas, Truckhenge is an eclectic combination of farm, salvage & recycled art, and nature sanctuary. The work of one man, Truckhenge consists of 6 antique trucks jutting out of the ground - remnicient of England's Stonehenge. The trucks are surrounded by other recycled object art and a variety of native plants. The artist, Ron Lessman, is enthusiastic and delights in showing visitors around his property. His family has been farming this land since the 1870s. Ron is fun to listen too, and talked on and on as we toured the grounds. One of his favorite subjects is his adventures with Shawnee County, which apparently views Truckhenge and the Lessman farm as something less than an attraction. The whole place is fascinating, with Ron the most interesting of all. I really should use video to include Ron Lessman and depict this grassroots art.I had a hard time finding Truckhenge, but it was worth the hunt. To get to Truckhenge simply get off Highway 4 at Northeast Seward Avenue. Go east a few dozen feet and turn north on Kincaid Road until it ends. Truckhenge is right on the other side of the gate in front of you and you can see a bit of the art from the road. The Lessman Farm entrance is up Briar Road a couple of hundred feet to your right. Call first: Truckhenge is first and foremosta home and farm.

Ron Lessman is a legend!! :) We spent over three hours getting a tour of his property, home, and more. Everything there is amazing! You have to dig offbeat or folk art to really appreciate his style! And if you're into unique artists, truckhenge is the place for you! It seems weird at first calling or stopping in, but you truly won't regret it!! We've been on the road for over 6 weeks now and visiting truckhenge was one of my favorite places!!

Truck henge is about 11 miles off of the interstate. Once you get there you must call or visit the nearby farm for entrance through the gate. Not really worth the time I think.

If you're into offbeat folk art, you'll love this place. Don't just show up, though - you have to call ahead and let the owner, Ron Lessman, know that you're showing up. Definitely worth the hassle to see such a weird collection of great art.

Things like this are what makes road trips more fun. Just imagine seeing a line of trucks sticking up from the ground along the road. That's pretty awesome. Moreover, here, you can find almost every piece of trash converted into a public piece of art. The whole farm was pretty odd in itself. But it's definitely worth a stop.

This would have been a fun stop but the gates were locked. The sign read call for a tour or stop to see some unknown person (no address listed). Was able to take a few pictures through the gate. Later in the day so we didn't call for a tour.

THIS IS THE BEST STOP ON A ROAD
TRIP THROUGH KANSAS!!! Make sure to stop, it's literally right off the highway and there's nothing like it! I was a little hesitant to call Ron and ask to come see the place, but I'm so happy we did. He has so much to tell you about, so don't worry about small talk or awkward silences. His stories are hilarious and his home and art are one of a kind. The truckhenge is only a small part of it. It's impossible to describe how amazing this experience is, so trust us and make the stop. **Make sure you call ahead, it's their home!**

The best reason I can think of to visit Topeka. Ron is a helluva guy and has more Art and stories than pretty much anyone I know. Do yourself a favour: make the stop. Essential!

The gate was closed and nobody around. From what I could see through the gate, there wasn't much to it.
