“Sleep amongst the redwoods”
While this portion of California's coast offers countless means of getting into the redwoods, there's nowhere that you can actually park your RV and stay right underneath these big fellows. In additiona to being conveniently located near the coffee shops, restaurants and groceries of charming Trinidad, CA's small downtown, the park itself offers everything from campfires to an arcade. Not to mention the short drive into the Redwood National Park.

Confirmed by 5 users | Last reported on October 06, 2022This is a nice RV park that also offers small cabins for rent. The RV spaces are among tall redwood trees and the name Emerald Forest rings true as you open your eyes and senses to the surroundings. There is a sense of “rustic” based on the hand painted signs, numerous fish cleaning stations, and the wooden style of the exterior of the camp buildings. It made me feel like I was in my own version of Tom Sawyer every time we were outside. There are two different bath houses. The one at the front of the park has 3 unisex bathroom/showers and is quaintly wrapped around a Redwood tree. These units are very nicely styled on the interior and give a spa like experience when you enter them. The showers were hot and had steady water pressure. These were very popular and on occasion, we had to wait for our chance to use them. The restroom/shower building in the back had a more dated feel. There was also a community room that had an accessible restroom/shower that appeared more dated than the one we used in the front of the camp. The campground has two “green spaces”. One is among the tent camping area and provided a nice soft grass for gathering and enjoying the company of other campers. The other green space was in the middle of the cabins and had a nice gazebo along with a play area for the children. We saw families enjoying time together on several of our walks through with the dogs. A very unique feature for the children and the young at heart that we saw was a video Arcade that had 2 old pinball machines and a couple of older Arcade games. The campground has several trash points throughout which was a very nice feature for those of us that have dogs along. The camp store as well as the laundromat are quite small for the number of campers they are able to entertain at this campground. The laundromat is in a small building nestled into the rental cabin area and have 2 washers (2.00 for 35 minutes) and 2 dryers (2.00 for 60 minutes). It was nice to have everything dry in one dryer cycle! The camp had a lot of tent campers along with RVs and the rental cabins. There was a nice loop around the campground that provided a .46 mile walk workout on our app each time we took the dogs for a walk. There is a dog park but we only used it one time as I noticed there were quite a few vines that had thick thorns that meandered into the dog park. I was nervous about the dogs curiosity ending up with thorn issues. The small town of Trinidad is very close and has a quaint grocery store called Murphy’s that we were able to pick up staples and a nice meat selection for a small community store. We enjoyed walking the beach in Trinidad and found Seascape Restaurant to have a very nice view and tasty fish-n-chips. There is a very nice cove by the restaurant where the water was calm and some neat tide pools to see crabs and small fish. We also stopped for wine tasting at Moonstone Crossing Winery and picked up several bottles. We stayed here in our 22 Ft Airstream and enjoyed our stay. For those with slide-outs, many sites might be tight or may not fit your needs as not all sites are wide enough for them. Our major complaint was the Wi-Fi was very weak and the campground Direct TV had multiple issues and the service was disrupted during our stay. AT&T cell coverage was not available for us inside the camp but as soon as we exited the property, our coverage was fine. We stayed here for several days while we explored the many wonders of the Redwood National and State Parks which is about 22 miles north of this park.
We stayed in one of their cabins. Cute and small. All your needs and essentials in a tiny little cabin. Out the window you see nothing but trees everywhere! Perfect for families. Close drive to all the hikes. I recommend it!
Beautiful campground. It's more social than most but a great place to stop, have an enjoyable time, and camp easy. Showers were a plus and bathrooms were clean. Convenience store was surprisingly reasonably priced. Staff was friendly. This is a nice lively campground if you have kids.
If you are driving on the 101 towards the North Coast of California, then you should definitely make a stop at the small town of Trinidad.
This town is a rather nice place to rest and have a meal. If you'll get there try to pop in to a restaurant that is close to the Emerald Forest of Trinidad. The feeling of enjoying your meal while being surrounded by some of the tallest trees in the world is just something that you must live in order to fully understand how great will make you feel!! Great surroundings and plenty of reasons to stop by in Trinidad, California!!! Thumbs up!
The cabins at this place looked cute, although we only saw the outside. We had reserved an RV site for our 31' class C with a slide, We arrived and could barely fit the rv into the space with the slide closed. There was no space to open the slide and even though there was a firepit, it would have been way too close to the rv. We ended up driving away after about 5 minutes.
Emerald Forest Cabins & RV is an amazing campground!
Emerald Forest Cabins & RV offers cabin rentals as well as RV and tent camping. The campground conveniently placed right off of the highway 101. A quaint little town called Trinidad is about 1 minute drive away -it has a grocery store, restaurants and gas station!
The park has a nice layout, has firepits, playgrounds, pet areas, restrooms as well as laundry.
The park offers pull-through sites with full hook ups, back-in sites, partial hook ups as well as dry camping.
It was a nice setting with all the redwoods. I appreciated the bark park area where you could let your dog off leash to play. The kids used the wifi so they could watch some shows to wind down for bed.The only slight negative was you got some traffic noise from the freeway.
We stayed at site 86 -it was a pull through site, easy to get to. Our friends stayed at site 72 which was quite small and hard to level.
Overall I give this place a 5 star. We loved being tucked under the woods and exploring in the majestic green area.

This was a great RV park that is within the redwoods so it gives you a feel of camping in the woods but still having full hook ups. It also has a lot of cabins which seemed nice. Only issue we had was the sewer was filled up one day and the other it seemed like it wasn’t taking fluid very well. Kind of like it was starving for air. Assuming that was a one off but not enough of an issue to not stay here.

Full of trees and surprisingly a lot of little cabins. I booked 3 rv sites and when checking in found out all the sites are spread out. Our group wasn’t even together. Two of us were put in the back where there were lots of hwy noise. Semi trucks on hwy 101 were very loud. The sites are close together and neighbors are right there. When booking you don’t get to select your sites, they just assign one and not tell you.
WiFi was not that great/reliable. Cell service was available but spotty and slow.
Trash cans were overfilling and a mess.

We were lucky enough to get a spot on the Patrick’s Point Rd side of the campground where the noise from the 101 was barely noticeable, if at all.
The campground itself is pretty beautiful, set among the redwoods. Staff were friendly and helpful. Cell signal was enough to work off of but was occasionally weak.

We'd stayed in Patrick Point State Park before and weren't fans, so decided to try Emerald Forest. Even getting into the park to the office was a challenge as the steep drive was full of large potholes. It was very muddy, due to recent rains. Gravel gravel could have mitigated that—there was none on the roads or the sites. It's very crowded, with small, closely packed sites. The forest it's jammed into is dense, so it's very dark. There are two bathrooms: one single and one with men's and women's sides, three sinks/toilets/showers each, but one of the women's showers was not working. The bathrooms were clean and the shower good. I'd give "cleaniless" four stars if it weren't so muddy—and I'm sure dusty in the non-rainy season. The park is right next to 101, though the trees muffle some of the noise.
