“A massive cavern that could hold the Statue of Liberty”
Gold miners first explored Moaning Cavern in 1851, but Native Americans had revered the site for centuries because of the haunting, moaning sounds coming from the entrance. Today, visitors enter by descending a metal spiral staircase or by rappelling by rope165 feet down. Or make reservations for an exciting three-hour Adventure Trip beginning with optional rappel. Above ground activities: gemstone mining, gold panning, free nature trail. School program available. Open every day, year round.
Knowing nothing more than this place existed we ventured out. The tour of the cave was great, zipline looked awesome and the thrown in rock climb challange kept us busy until the tour commenced. Neat little trip out to see an impressive cave.
Are you located or travelling in Northern California? Then make a stop at the fascinating Moaning Cavern Adventure Park. Approximately 3 hours from Tahoe, San Hose and San Francisco it is surely worth a visit.
Challenging adventures combined with hiking to mines and caves. The guided tour at the cave was truly a fantastic experience for all of us. The guides were fantastic and very helpful with the hiking and everything.
Strongly recommend it to all families!! Your kids will be excited!!!
