Take a drive through the beautiful rolling hills of southeastern Indiana with Versailles State Park, Indiana’s second-largest state park, as your destination. This area has deep history rooted in both the Civil War and the Civilian Conservation Corps. Versailles State Park dedicated a CCC commemorative statue in 2010. Numerous fossils tell the story of an ancient sea that covered the region. During the Civil War, Morgan’s Raiders made their way through the area that is now the park. The town of Versailles was briefly under Confederate control.Relax while fishing on the 230-acre lake where you can rent a paddleboat, rowboat, kayak or canoe. Get a workout and see the beauty of the park by taking a walk on the hiking trails or a ride on the mountain bike trails. Bring your horses for the day to enjoy the more than 20 miles of horse trails. Steps to a scenic overlook at the dam are a prime spot to see herons and other aquatic wildlife. In fall, enjoy activities like the Versailles Pumpkin Show in the town of Versailles on the last weekend in September or the Bluegrass Festival on the first weekend of October. For Halloween festivities, visit the park the last weekend in October.

This is a great southern Indiana State Park with easy access from US 50. Plenty of sites to accommodate larger rigs with paved pads, picnic tables, fire rings, 30 amp, dump station and very clean restroom & shower facilities. The park offers great hiking trails, mountain bike trails, seasonal nature center, seasonal swimming pool, horse trails and 230 acre lake. First time camping here. Grounds were nice, though our comfort station/shower stalls could use a good scrub and coat of paint. We rented kayaks and paddled around. We saw a few bald eagles which was very cool. Hiking trails are nice too.

Good park with virtually no one weekdays. Good enough signal to be able to work. Nothing spectacular but good hiking and near a cute town. Public bathrooms were some of the worst.

A large state park and with 3 campground areas, A, B and C. We stayed at C. The sites are big, paved and well spaced out. You wont feel crowded here There are a couple of spickets in the campground where your can fill your water tank. During our stay there, the place was almost full. Families and friends camped together. It was nice to see them play together. Lots of children with bikes. The CG has clean bathroom with showers.
However, there is no path to the bathroom which is located at the center of the campground, so those at the outer loop sites tend to walk thru the inner loop sites to go the bathroom. Another issue is some of the paved strips are narrow, so vehicles drive in the grass when backing in. With the lots of rain recently, the edge of the pad is muddy.
