“Fishing for million year old fish”
Warfield Fossils invites you to come on a Fossil Safari® where you can dig your own fossil fish in our private quarry. There are an abundance of fossil fish in the “Green River Formation.” Most people find enough fish to satisfy their appetite in the first two hours.
No Reservations are Needed! There is no need to call before you come, there are no phones at the quarry. There is always someone at the quarry during business hours. Just print a map, show up and we will give you the tools to dig. It's that easy.
We will provide you with the proper tools and a basic guided lesson to ensure you a successful fossil hunt! There are hard hats and safety glasses available for your safety and use at the Quarry. What You will need to Bring Water, food, sunglasses, sunscreen, hat and gloves. Keep in mind the quarry is at 7,300 feet in elevation. There are no amenities available at the quarry. (An outhouse is as fancy as it gets!) You will also need to bring your own empty boxes and wrapping materials to ensure your fossils have a safe journey home.
Absolutely rad! It's a pain to get to (the Roadtrippers location is in the town of Kemerer, but Fossil Safari is actually 50 minutes from there - search Google Maps for the actual location) but it's absolutely worth it! We didn't think we cared at all about fossils until we started finding our own, and now we're hooked! Oh and George the caretaker was super nice and really helpful :)
Wrong route on gps. Go into Kemmerer take hwy 189 to Wyo 233 then follow Fossil Safari signs. What an awesome experience! Plus, we now have fossils to remember our adventure and to share with our friends!
