Old Fauquier County Jail is a historic jail building located at Warrenton, Fauquier County, Virginia. The two-part building consists of an original section was built in 1808, and later expanded with a parallel second section in 1822. The original section is a two-story, brick building, that was built as the county jail and converted in 1822 to serve as the jailer's residence. It has a slate covered gable roof. A two-story, one bay addition was built in 1824. Parallel to the original building is a two-story, stone jail building. It operated as a jail until 1966, and now houses a local history museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978. We offer self-guided tours. Personalized tours are available by appointment. We welcome field trip groups!
