“All they do is make beautiful sherry”
Mockingbird Hill is a Sherry and ham bar that plays punk rock, pours Gin & Tonics on tap and answers the age old question: What the @#$& is Sherry? Mockingbird Hill is a Sherry and ham bar, inspired by the small Sherry bars of Madrid and the south of Spain. Created by James Beard Award nominee Derek Brown, owner of The Passenger and Columbia Room, Mockingbird Hill shares as its inspiration punk rock. For Derek, Sherry and punk rock go hand-and-hand. When he was young, Derek didn’t learn about Spain from Cervantes but through the music of the Clash. The focus at Mockingbird Hill is the wines of Jerez, an often-misunderstood wine that is more likely to be dry than sweet and shares more in common historically with pirates than grandmothers. It’s among the most complex and interesting wines in the world and is the perfect compliment to food, especially with ham. Mockingbird Hill has a selection of Spanish-inspired food and local hams along with spirits and cocktails, including vermouth and a gin & tonic on tap.
