This 114-acre wildlife area is located in Symmes Township and lies 2.3 miles northwest of Waterloo in Lawrence County.  Access is obtained from Township Road 320, also known as Old Forest Ridge Road. Parking is available along Old Forest Ridge Road about 2 miles from the intersection of SR 141 and Old Forest Ridge Road. Symmes Wildlife Area was obtained in 1990 as a gift from John W. Hall.  Management work includes protection and improvement of existing woodlands with the main emphasis on forest game management. White-tailed deer, wild turkey, and gray squirrel are the principal game species.  All furbearers common to the region are also found on the area. The area is popular for hunting gray squirrel, white-tailed deer, and wild turkey.  Oak-hickory stands scattered throughout the area provide excellent habitat for squirrel and the wild turkey. A variety of woodland songbirds are attracted to Symmes Wildlife Area, including the scarlet tanager, pileated woodpecker, red-headed woodpecker, ovenbird, and various other songbirds.
