“documenting the history of West Chicago”

The West Chicago City Museum was established as a department of the City of West Chicago in 1975. Its function is to collect, preserve, exhibit and interpret materials that document the history of West Chicago and the surrounding region. The Museum is housed in the former Turner Town Hall, a National Register site. The building was constructed in 1884 and served as the seat of local government for more than 90 years. The Town Hall also housed the community's police and fire departments and served as a site for cultural events. Today, the building houses two floors of exhibits relating to West Chicago's rich history. Special events throughout the year celebrate that history. Our museum is not affiliated with the West Chicago Historical Society, which operates the Kruse House Museum at 527 Main Street.
