“Pub in West Hartford, CT”
For over a decade strong now, The Corner Pug, located on 1046 New Britain Avenue, has been a destination for classic comfort food in Elmwood, CT. Opened in 2001 by Ted Vetter, The Pug has received countless rave reviews and accolades from media and local residents alike. Most notably, the restaurant was awarded Best Pub Food in April of 2013 by The Hartford Advocate’s Best of 2013 edition. This makes it The Pug’s eleventh consecutive year of winning! So what’s in a name, you may ask? The Corner Pug, previously called The Corner Pub, was the name chosen by owner Ted Vetter as a play on words. Vetter, an avid pug owner, decided to give the Pub a theme. His pug, Mac (short for Macaroon), became the loyal mascot of The Corner Pug. Mac not only graced the front cover of the menu, but also had his name attached to several of the restaurant’s items. From Mac’s Big Burger to Mac-N-Cheese, The Corner Pug has become widely known, as it’s slogan states, for “Honest Food and Hearty Portions”. Whether you’re in the mood for freshly made Shepherd’s Pie, hot grilled Reubens, creamy Chicken Pot Pies with flaky crusts, or the authentic English classic- Fish and Chips, served on London newspaper print, The Corner Pug’s menu has something to offer every taste pallet. Come in and try these house favorites accompanied by a 20 oz. draught beer. There are twelve beers on draft to choose from in the Pug’s bar.
