“intricate cocktails & exquisite dishes”
Since 1952, Melody Bar and Grill has gathered diners and bargoers in an unvarying array of midcentury comfort and luxury. Amber chandeliers dangle from ornate copper ceilings in the dining area where guests enjoy menu selections such as chicken parmesan and top sirloin culotte steak designed by chef and owner Christian Warren. In the bar area, light fixtures reminiscent of a Japanese dojo illuminate a bar upholstered with tufted brown leather. Matching intricate cocktails with special events throughout the week, Melody hosts Monday evening karaoke and Thursday evening trivia, where teams compete against each other in a test of factual recall and angry whispering.x
What the table ordered: (2 people)
6 mimosas (we had a long day), tomato bruschetta (complimentary), tuna melt, cobb salad
Cost of entire meal: Originally $57.77, discounted to $22.89
My 2 cents: We walked into this place on a whim - we were starving and had to stay somewhere close to LAX while they were sorting out my lost luggage ordeal. Walking into this modest bar, I thought, "This is odd...reminds me of Dayton!" Not exactly what I had in mind. However, we were more than grateful for the generosity of our waitress and one of the restaurant managers. After we unloaded all of our troubles onto these two poor people, they lended not only sympathetic ears but also cut our bill by more than $30 as a friendly gesture. They also both sat and chatted with us about fun things to do in LA. While the food wasn't particularly out-of-this-world (though, no complaints about it!), we were very lucky to have ended up at this spot for the evening.
